Do you buy/eat multigrain seeded bread?

The dietician at my clinic recommended seeded bread and I have been having it ever since because she said so and also because it is delicious The bread may consist of sesame, pumpkin, sunflower and other seeds. Apparently, this is the healthier option. Surprisingly, seeded bread is now readily available in many supermarkets and bakeries and I had not taken much notice of it before.. I have recommended it to a couple of people who have loved it and have stuck to it. Do you eat seeded bread? Have you tried it before? Would you try it? What is your preferred bread and the one you consider a healthier option?

I buy multi-grain bred that contains flax seed, etc. and I just made some whole wheat/oatmeal/rye bread that contains sesame seeds. I wonder how it will taste. I am experimenting. If it turns out, I might buy some flax seed, and some other seeds and incorporate it into the batter. Anyway as long as the bread is non-white and is whole grain (that there is no white flour in it) then it is healthy. It is just a bit or correction way more expensive then the ordinary white and whole wheat bread at the stores, but it is worth it. And it is better to make it yourself, because you can cut it as thin as you like.

It usually does. I already have two loaves in the freezer and will bring one up as soon as the one we bought is used up. I hardly ever buy whole grain bread except for whole wheat and that is not much better than white bread, but I was lucky because they had a whole lot on the day old shelf. I took just one since my husband (the cheap skate who thinks enriched white bread is just as good) would not like it with half off -costs too much. This Tuesday, there was none available and there was no whole wheat loaves at the price we usually payed, so I said "forget it! I am going to make my own." So I went to my recipe binder and took out that recipe I had made a while ago, and decided to add rolled oats, sesame seeds, and rye flour to the mix. When I get some more money, I might try those smelt grains or what they call those ancient grains and see how it turns out then.

Those are so good! My hubby made that kind of bread way before it came out in stores. I make a potato soup, that's more of a chowder, with celery, green onions, corn, what ever I feel like putting in it, actually, and he used to make loaves of bread to have fresh with it, and decided to experiment. :) That made such a good meal.

Yep! He was working as a cook in a retirement home, when we met. (One of the kind where residents come and go as they please.) He cooks very well. :)

I think it's been around a while and I've always eaten it. It might not be suitable for all occasions but it is much healthier and more good for you than white bread.

Yes, I think it's been around a while but I didn't make much notice of it before it was recommended to me and often went for the 'best of both' or 'gold', now I just look for this one.. Nice avatar by the way

I don't really like Rye bread because it just has a weird sort of after taste that I don't think bread should have. I love the rye squares with the spread on them... but really nothing else.

I have tried and eaten multigrain seeded bread. It tastes good really and you will feel that it's different from the others. As health experts would say, they have so much health benefits. But it's really expensive. I hope I can buy again and try them.

It seems to cost almost the same as other bread here, I'll definitely double check the price when I go into the supermarket again as a few people are saying it is more expensive It was recommended by my dietician though:) and as it is good for health, I would have to ignore whatever difference there is in the price

Fabulous, isn't it? It adds a cedrtain tang to whatever it's with, and improves our health at the same time. I've always brought only salads to work for lunch. Since I started eating these breads (recommended by my doctor, too), I'm bringing sandwiches with all sorts of wonderful fillings. What a nice change it is for something a doctor tells us to eat to be really good! It makes an unusual and wonderful French Toast, too.

Yes, it makes great French toast too It's so out with that white bread and it costs almost the same here, a few more pennies but worth it

You might have it round there... I never used to notice it here until it was recommended and now it's all that I see I think at times with some products, we just stick to the ones we are used to, simple things like bread too especially when you just want to do the shop and get out of there

I guess it may depend on where you're located onlydia.. It does not seem to cost anymore than the other bread here except for a few more pennies if not the same and there's a variety of brands

I know it's heathiler, but I don't like it so I don't eat it. I really don't like anything apart from white bread, so that's all I will eat! I eat other foods to get what I need into my diet though, so that isn't too bad, but I just hate wholegrain bread!!

I love multi-grain bread. Its very healthy and nutritious I also love white bread but have not eaten it since I was a kid. Seeded bread just doesn't do it for me. I don't like the texture of it and its a bit crunchy. I like grains because they are soft and easy to chew... nothing gets stuck in my teeth so its amazing ^_^ I'll stick to multi-grain I think seeded bread would add to much protein to my diet anyways...

I don't like seeded bread, so yes I've tried it. I prefer wheat-bread, which is healthier than white bread...at least that's what I prefer when Mom isn't making banana bread, which I assume is also good for me. White bread is something I only eat at the holidays at Grandma's house. So happens, only Grandma's white breaded biscuits are the only white bread I like. Everything else is usually too bland for me to take.

Well, occasionally - when I see it on the table and no one seems to want it. I am more a "rice" person than a "bread" person. I don't quite hate bread but I don't really like it a lot too. And so, I just eat it occasionally. Multigrain bread is cool and can be bought easily here. The different grains give different things that are hopeful beneficial to our body and health. Cheers!

There are lots of variations of bread with seeds, I have tried some of them and although they are really nice, some of them, they just do not agree with me! I apparently could have IBS so it makes eating food rather difficult sometimes as lots of things seem to disagree with me and I just end up with stomach ache for days on end. I can eat weightwatchers bread and also the danish bread, both of those are really light, quite tasty too. Only trouble is, not much to it so does not fill me up for long!

I suffer from IBS too and sometimes some things do not agree with me and I end up bloated and feel like a beach whale one dayand normal the next.. I haven't tried Weight Watchers or Danish bread; no harm in trying so I'll check them out soon..

hi marina I found a fifteen whole grains bread two loafs for four dollars and bought one. my it was so good, full of flavor, and seeds and whole grains, just plain delicious. And when I toasted some it was even better. thick, fiberous and just plain tasty, I loved the stuff And it is very good for you too which is a big plus.I do not eat the seeded bread as I have diverticulitis and' seeds are a no no for people with that disease.
@marina321 (4556)

Yes i do and I like it so much ! It is more tasty but some people can get a stomachache with it (because of the grains) hopefully i'm not of those persons so I can eat it a lot ^^ Really this is the best kind of bread you can buy. For those who never eaten it, just give it a try !
