Father Tries Force Kids To Kill The Family Cat While Intoxicated...

Cat - An orange cat...

How sick is this??? This father gets drunk and then tries to get his daughter and eleven year old son to stab the family's eight month old cat. The son, not wanting his father to harm the cat, tries to hide it from his father but the father finds the cat and strangles it while his kids look on. Here's the link to the story: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,413761,00.html I don't know about you but I think this is so sick!!! He told the police that he doesn't remember even doing it because he was intoxicated. However, first of all, he still should be ashamed that he would even get THAT drunk in front of his two young kids and second, I don't care how drunk someone is, if they do something like that then something is just not right inside their head. I have seen people close to me get drunk like that before and they have never went out and killed innocent animals like that. You already have to be off your rocker to do something like that in my opinion. I just hope that they never let him around these kids because he's probably scarred them for life as it is. It's so sad to see people like this procreate... What do you all think about this? Is it sick or what???

This is absolutely sick and pathetic. How can you just kill such an innocent little animal like that. And the worst part is asking his kids to do it for him. Such a stupid father. He told the police that he doesn't remember even doing because he was intoxicated. Who the hell asked him to get that drunk in the first place. There is no excuse for that at all. If he got drunk he chose to and its totally his fault. He should have know to stay within his limits. Imagine what the children must have felt while seeing the poor little cat being strangled. Parents are supposed to be role models for their children and teach then the right way to grow and live. But I never say anything of that sort happening over here. This dad is not fit to be a dad.

Some say that drinking brings out the real you in a way- and this is very scary to think that this man is this violent! I wonder if there is abuse going on in the home already?

I definitely wouldn't be surprised if there was already abuse present in the home already...It makes one wonder where the mother was in all this and why she would continue to let this man around her children. He is NO father, I don't care what she thinks. This is not the type of father that any good mother wants their children around... I definitely agree...Behavior like this is not the result of intoxication, it's the result of an already screwed up mind...

I think he should go to jail, pay fines and get treatment, both for his problems and the kids for having to endure what he put them thru. Oh, and probably never allowed to be within a 100 feet of a pet - I hope the mother kicks his butt out!

Isn't that the truth! My guess is those kids probably have been abused in the past and now he'll probably not only get hit with an animal abuse charge, but child abuse investigation.

He definitely needs some phiciatric help, without a doubt... I wonder where the mom was through all of this? My guess is that she was probably at work. One can only hope that she is the better parent and will be able to love and help these kids through this icky situation...Though, one does have to wonder why she would leave her kids with a man like this, father or not!!!

Yes, it is sick and you are right, he should not have been THAT drunk in the first place either! Imagine if it weren't the cat he wanted to kill? I do hope he will get the proper action for what he did so that he would learn a lesson. What he did can be traumatic for his kids, seeing their father do that to an innocent animal. Either they will grow up thinking it was wrong, or worse, they would grow up thinking what their father did was right.

I honestly don't think being "that drunk" has anything to do with it- I can remember being quite intoxicated and NEVER thinking of hurting an animal or person- I mean really- what did he really get out of hurting this poor animal- was it enjoyment- because if that is the case- should he really even be allowed around his children?????

Well, what we're trying to say is that he just should never have been this drunk in front of his kids PERIOD...There's not excuse for it, even if he hadn't done what he did to the cat... As for what he did to the cat and in front of his kids, well, it's just disgusting and I don't care what excuses he comes up with about not being able to remember because he was intoxicated, he has mental problems. Like you and even myself brought out, I have been around people who have been intoxicated and never have I seen any of them try to do what this man did. You have to already have some major mental problems to do it, even when drunk!!! Thanks all for your comments!!!

I know!!! Where the heck was the mother??? She had to see sign of his instability because things like this doesn't just spring over night. So, why leave your kids with such a man, father or not??? I definitely think that these kids are going to need some form of counceling to get through it. It's just a sad situation all around...

I've heard it before, and it's downright creepy, yet unsurprising I'm afraid in this day and age. People are doing all kinds of things because they're drunk, or high, and they only get a slap on the wrist. As long as BS like that keeps up, people have no incentive not to be high or drunk.

I agree! I think that something needs to be done to prevent things like this from taking place. It's just so sad that these kids had to go through it and see this happen. And that poor cat!!! It just makes me so sick to think about it!

The next thing that guy will do is strangle his kids. He is beyond sick. I don't care what he doesn't remember, he belongs in jail or in a mental institution. I hope he has a judge who understands how dangerous this guy is. It is a proven fact that animal torturers usually move on to children and women as a next step. This is horrible and disgusting.

EXACTLY MY POINT mcat!!! Serial killers usually have a history of starting off torturing and killing innocent animals before moving on to people. I too hope he does get a judge who sees the severity of this crime for what it REALLY is!

I'm with you both 100%...What he did was not in any way, shape or form at all normal. I don't care what he claims was the cause of it, normal people, drunk or not, do not torture living things. He needs to be put away before he moves on to torturing people...The whole situation is sick if you ask me...

How do men like this become parents? Where was the mother in all of this? I surely hope this man does not have custody of these children. He does NOT deserve these children. I have been drunk, and many of my friends and family members have been drunk many times, and we never did anything like this when we were drunk. Actually, when I get drunk I am a happy, singing drunk. I actually sing better drunk than sober, people tell me. Anyway, back to this guy, what an @$$hole! I feel like I want to hurt this man for doing that to that poor cat. Again, I hope that the children of this man were taken from him, and I hope that the mother of these children considers divorce if she is still around, or if she can get away him at all.

Yeah, he definitely had mental problems and was trying to blame it on being drunk but like you, I have been around people who have been drunk before and no normal person, drunk or not, would try to pull something like this. No one I have ever been around who has been intoxicated even remotely try anything like this, it's sick. The guy has mental problems, plain and simple... I keep wondering where the mother was. She had to see signs of him being slightly disturbed because behavior like this doesn't just spring up over night. I just hope that these kids have some normal relatives that can take care of them and help them through all this because they don't need to be given back to parents like these two...

I don't understand people like that. I don't think even being drunk is an excuse for that. That's just plain meanness. I don't understand people like that. I would be very worried about this guy and what he would do next.

I don't understand people like this either and I don't think I ever will. What happens to a person to make them lack any compassion for something living and make them want to take it's life? I don't think I'll ever fully understand this...

Being drunk is no excuse for hurting anything. Its just a way to get out of his consequnces. I think he should be charged with animl crueltry and child abuse. Thats just way out there. What next ?? kill his kids and blam eit on alchohol. I would horse whip him.

hi mrsfairwells that man is crazy as well as drunk. I have seen a lot of drunks but never one who would strangle a cat in front of his kids. A man like that should never even have kids or cats. I hope he gets so many years in jail he will never get out.I am sure the man is looney tunes.what trauma those kids faced. I was six when our hired man made me and his little daughter watch him drown six kittens and he threatened to do something bad to my parents if I told on him. well I had nightmares and I told my dad. My dad fired the man immendiately then called the sherriff in our town , and found out the man was on the FBI most wanted list. the police arrested him and he was sent back east to prison. I am now 81 and still get sick at the thought of it all.

OMG that's so awful!!! What makes a person so sick that they have to do things like this? I'm so sorry that that had to happen to you. I'm just glad that you also were not harmed physically in the process. Though, I can imagine the emotional trauma you had to go through. That's just so sad! I think your father did the righ thing because who knows who else he would have hurt if he hadn't been turned in...

That is so sick. I feel so sorry for the kids. And the cat of course. I don't think being drunk should be an excuse. He must've had some other problems to even think about doing something like this. He should be put away for life.

i agree with you whole-heartedly... it is so sick... he shouldn't be that drunk in the first place and to do it in front of his young children make it even worst... what kind of example is he setting to his children??? i hope he will be punished accordingly and lose custody of his children... take care and have a nice day...

Yes, its always the kids I feel for. Whenever I see kids in physical or mental trauma my own child comes to my mind and I put him in that place and I am like OMG…I would rather die to protect him from something like this. I can never ever understand how people can be cruel to children…one look in their eyes and they are just angels. Why do such people procreate…absolutely correct! However since this guy has already done it twice (maybe more) keeping him off his children or sending these children to homes will not better the situation. That’s the worst part of it…each child wants to be part of a proper family yet how many of us can give them that?

It's really sad...I agree! My husband and I don't have any children as of yet but I'm extremely close to my niece and nephew and I couldn't imagine doing something like to them. It's just really sad that people like this have children, while other couples who deserve them can't seem to get pregnant and have a family of their own. I agree with you though, these kids don't need to be put into a forster home. The mother was not mentioned. I only hope that she was at work or something and didn't know what was going on, though one has to wonder why she would leave her kids with this man, father or not...I just hope that she is a good parent and that the kids at least have her to help them through the trauma of it all...

that's really sick. i just cant understand why he did that infront of his kids, as if the cat did anything bad to him. and the cat i believe must be very dear to the kids and it must be very hard for them to see the cat being killed by their father. oMG.. i dont really know what to make up of that father. and you are definitely right, he should not be drunk infront of his kids, he is setting bad examples and he is teaching them that harming animals and violence is okay and it can be tolerated. the children needs to be debriefed and they need to be understood that what their father did to the cat is really bad or they might think that what their father did is absolutely fine. i hate this kind of stories. if fathers cant be good examples, then why did they make themselves fathers in the first place. they dont desrve to be called dads when they cant even protect their own kids.

no problem, i really enjoyed responding to this discussion, i like to express how i feel after reading what you have posted. it's like my heart wants to burst knowing what that father did and tried to ask his children do. he is heartless. and like you said, there are definitely a lot of couples who were not blessed to have kids, and he who was given this blessing didnt no his responsibilities to his kids right. happy mylotting friend and see you around.

Intoxicated or not- if you are evil enough to think about hurting an innocent animal something is definitley wrong with you. I mean most serial killers have a history of torturing animals before they move on the killing human beings- This man deserves to be charged with a crime for his actions- and he also should be charged with child endangerment for exposing his children to such a horrid crime!

I agree, a crime like this doesn't stem from being intoxicated, it stems from a very sick and twisted mind, which this man clearly had before he put the bottle to his lips...I think that he should have never been drinking in front of his kids but clearly he has issues and so, it doesn't surprise me really that he was but it makes one wonder what the mother was thinking for leaving these kids with this man, I don't care if he or she calls him the father, this is not a person (father or not) that you want to subject innocent children too. One can only hope that these kids have some family members who have brains and who are stable and that they can be placed with these individuals to help them get through this awful mess....

I agree, there are some very sick and twisted people in this world these days. Not only did this man harm an innocent cat but he may have just scarred his children for life. What he did to the cat AND HIS KIDS is just disgraceful!!!
