He is supposed to lead the young batting line up that India had got in the recent concluded Sri Lankan series. But Yuvi failed miserably. His grievance of batting too low down has been taken care of under the leadership of MS Dhoni. His elevation up the order created even more problems for Yuvraj as he seemed all at sea against the pacers and was bamboozled by the spinners.
See the image (http://images.mylot.com/userImages/images/postphotos/2033099.jpg) in this discussion where a table has been uploaded as an image to show the poor run of yuvraj in all series in 2008 and yearwise averages.
With the Indian team looking for performing youngsters, will yuvraj be able to hold his place in the Indian team? He is also the Indian team's vice-captain and is under the scanner right away. What will happen now? What do you suggest should be done?

Yuvraj has had a bad patch for last 6 months nearly. I think he would always struggle against the spinners. He needs to start going to the pitch of the ball if he wants to really succeed against them. In this series he was trying to play Mendis from the backfoot and failed miserably. That is why he is such a good asset on pitches with bounce as he is a good player on the back foot, but going forward against the spinners he is in total disarray.
Cheers!

he is not confident playing the spinners. might be something to do with his technique. i have found him struggle against the genuine spinners. also he is bad against swing. thats why he is not supposed to come at 1 or 2 down, which he did and failed miserably.
thanks for your comments.

Yes, one is his technique and the other problem is his foot movement. For a tall player like him he should be able to reach to the pitch of each delivery. Instead he prefers to play from the back foot. That I think is one of the major reasons for his failure.
Cheers!

Uv is not 100% fit. His knee is the problem for fielding and also for batting. he likes to hit smashing but when he is in form no body will be there in non strikers end. he has difficult to pick mendis too due to classic play. but look his average and his match winner for india. with out him india cant think about last year T20. Two best shots from about seven matches. one with england and other with aussies.

he is not 100% fit. i do accept but why he plays is what i am unable to find a reason. also he has weaknesses to play spinners in spin tracks and genuine swing bowling. he can play the no.6 or no.7 spot according to me. i think he is over projected and thats why he is struggling, to be able to show that performance.
thanks for ur response.
