...are we entitled to both? What is the nastiest revenge you have inflected on someone? Do you believe you were justified in your actions? If so, why? When does justice become revenge and vice versa? Liv

I guess there are people in our lives that we definitely would like to take revenge on! Is it the right thing to do though? That all depends on you! There have been times when I have wanted to take revenge and I thought to myself (how can I do it without the other party knowing?) Well, I was starting to think along the lines of purchasing a voodoo doll! Now I know this sounds absolutely crazy but, when you are desperate you tend to think about all kinds of crazy things. The reason I thought about a voodoo doll is that, I wouldn't have to become personally involved! If the voodoo doll worked then I would have achieved my aim -pure revenge! No one would no it was me and I would get away with it. Then I read somewhere about karma and so I thought twice. I didn't want any bad stuff coming back to haunt me. Now, if we are talking about someone breaking into your home whilst you are in? Well, that's a different matter! I believe you have the right to defend yourself and should be allowed to do so. If the burgler is armed then you have no choice but to grab anything that will substitute as a weapon and beat the living hell out of him! Provided you don't kill him, this will make him think twice about going down the same route. Andrew

Hmm, well I guess I did it all wrong then. There was a burglar in my house once but I couldn't tell if he was armed. I shot first. He didn't die. All I could think of was the safety of my daughter. Had I killed him, would it really matter? You are right about karma though. It can bite you in the rear and hard. Best way I found to deal with it is ask for justice...regardless of what that means. However, there are times when it doesn't seem to be enough. I will admit that. Anyway, thanks for your response my friend. Liv

I don't think you were in the wrong anyway. You did what you thought was right at the time. Under those circumstances the situation can be highly tense and you have to make a split decision. You probably did the right thing. Andrew

Justice becomes revenge when you are getting even with someone knowing that you should be letting it go

Yes we are. We are entitled to justice. Though revenge is negative in a way, it's better to say that we are up to justice and fair treatment after all. Well, there are proper avenues for us to seek real justice. Enjoy.

Unfortunately judges are also humans so they do fall prey to corruption but only rarely. It is the lawyers who turn and twist facts to suit the needs of their clients and even the cops who are subject to corruption add fuel to the fire. There are hundreds of cases where the judges have rapped the authorities for shoddy investigations and also told the lawyers defending criminals that personally they would have sentenced their clients but because their hands are tied and they have to go by the law book ,they are forced to let off the criminals. It is a sorry state of affairs but i still maintain that that the highly principalled man will rather suffer than let go of his principles and revert to taking revenge. One finds very few people of this category in this world today. Thanks for your prompt response. I believe we have exchanged discussions before too. Have a happy day,my dear.

Yes, I believe we have and I rather enjoy our little chats. I am not sure I agree with your comment about those who take revenge being few and far between. I think it is just that we do not hear about it. I mean could you imagine what the world would think of our police force is they found out they were in fact not in control of situations like that? It would become even more popular I say. Thanks so much for your response as well. Again, I enjoy our chats. I really do. Hope to talk with you again soon. Liv

We are entitled to receive justice but not revenge. Revenge is like a deep festering wound which keeps gnawing at our heart creating more and more hatred as time passes. If we take revenge on anybody even though it may be justified what we are doing is taking the law into our own hands. We may feel satisfied with what we have done but God`s laws will inevitably turn the tables on us. For it is only God who is the real dispenser of justice. We must first turn to the human courts of justice and if we do not get retribution from them we must leave it to God for in his world any wrong done to us by someone , that person will surely get his dues even if it takes time.We must be patient and our patience will surely be rewarded. As for myself i never had any opportunity to seek revenge and i hope it stays that way for the rest of my life.

What happens when there is corruption in the courts? Must we still simply rely on God to grant us justice? Do you think that God will ever allow us to be the hands of Justice? I am not trying to be combative here so don't take it personally. Just asking. Thank you for the response. It was really a thought provoking response. Liv
