Well it's that time again...

Ok so for most people in the US it's back to school time. So I'm wondering to all those parents who have kids heading back to school, what are your plans for making this year a productive one. I mean I know that for some kids both parents work, or they only have one parent. So for the parents who work away from the home, is it hard to find time to be with your kids during the school year? What do you do to make sure that they are able to have your full support and attention when they are home? I remember being a "latch key kid" and never really seeing a parent or guardian during the day half the time. I know how hard it was for me as a kid having to go it alone on so many things. So how for those who are working parents, how do you make sure that there is that proper balance?

Except for very rare circumstances both me and my sweetie are home no later than 6 PM. (Me usually 30 minutes after they get out of school)Dinner is on the table by 6:30, and from 7:00 until 8:30 it is all undivided attention with the kids time. They do what they can without help of their homework when they get home and anything left over gets done during this time. Then it is off to brush their teeth, pjs on, kissed good night and tucked into bed. By 9 PM it is our undivided attention on each other time :) I sometimes feel bad that the kids are limited to anywhere between 2.5 to 5.5 hours with me/us but once I really sat down to think about it even when they have us every waking moment on the weekends they still only spend about that amount of time attached to us like some growth or questioning us on everything from why is the sky blue to how do you spell aphrodisiac. *shaking head* don't ask. lol
