once diagnosed, postpartum can be treated.if you think you have it don,t feel ashamed seek help without delay.1. call a support group. depression after delivery,a national organization that specializes in PPD referral services can put you in touch with qualified psychologists or psychiatrists in the area.they will also supply a list of telephone contacts volunteers-women themselves have gone through PPDand are willing to speak about it to others.it can be very dangerous

I don't think that it can be taken lightly at all, as it can be very dangerous to both the mother and her baby if it is so bad that she feels she cannot bond with her baby.
Anyone who suspects that they have this should see a doctor, and they would be able to get something to help them get rid of it.
Also, partners should keep an eye on their wife/girlfriend when they have given birth to look out for signs that they're not as happy as they should be, and get them to see a doctor if this appears to be the case.

About 10 days after having a baby the 'baby blues' hit the mum making her feel a bit sad a tearful. That is completely normal because it is just her hormones settling down after the birth. Post Natal Depression is something serious and it can come at anytime up to one year after the birth. It can make a mum really miserable and affect her fully bonding with her baby. If a lady thinks she has this she could speak to her health visitor. Supportive people are only a phone call away. The mum will feel happy again and make a full recovery if she is given help. Young babies need much care and attention and the mum should be doing well so she needs help if she is depressed.
