What do you collect? And what do you think it says about you?

I have a couple things I enjoy collecting. I collect raccoons because my husband and I raise, train and show coonhounds. I collect brunette angels because I adore angels but after my husband told me all angels were blondes, I had to prove a point (maybe because I'm a brunette!) I also collect those cute Christmas village figurines. Maybe it's the writer in me. I love to arrange them and imagine their lives and what's going on. So, what do you collect? And why?

Toy sheep are awful cute. Real sheep are just awful. Well, they are still cute but wow! are they ever dumb. ;) My husband had several once upon a time.

I have a couple of things I collect. I have never given thought to why I collect these things but I do. I collect stuffed animals mainly because they are given to me for my birthday or Christmas. I also collect horses, the statues, of course, because I have a very large love of horses. Then I collect porcelain dolls because I think that they very beautiful. Then I have a collection of things that my grandkids have given me. Those will never be thrown out. I have never really thought about why I collect these things other than they are nice to collect.

Books. Lots and lots of books. I love picking up a book from the early 1900s, enjoying the story, but also imagining the hands that have touched it before. I have this 1920's edition of Beau Geste that's really awesome because they put publicity shots for the movie inside the center of the book. It's also cool when you come across a book that has something of the previous owner inside it. Used bookstores are terrific for stuff like that. I've found business cards, notes, receipts, etc. It's like getting a little window into the life of someone else. And then there's the book itself. Nothing is quite like picking up a volume, running your hands up and down the pages, smelling the paper, etc. Reading is a fully immersive pasttime. I also have a nice collection of bookmarks, makes sense, right?
