What do you have on your bread/toast?

I usually have jam/jelly (whatever you call it) on my bread. Sometimes I add cheese on top of it. When I go to my dad's, sometimes he would serve turkey bacon with lettuce and tomatoes. Yum! I like that. But on normal days, it's just jam and cheese.
What about you? What do you normally have on your bread or toast?

hi sydney
in my country we have some jelly called "KAYA" it is made from coconut milk and made to a paste/jelly ~ it is very thick and brownish in colour ..
We will toast the bread, put kaya on one bread and butter on the other bread...
it is very tasty

I know KAYA!
But I'm not a big fan though. We have kaya bread where there is already kaya inserted in the bread, ready to eat. My daughter loves it.

Because of my IBS and hypoglycemia I don't eat a lot of bread. I do have a toasted whole wheat English muffin for lunch most days. One side will have just margarine on it, the other will have margarine and raspberry jam. I used to live off peanut butter and jam sandwiches when I was a kid but, alas, I don't think I can do that anymore. And I always had raspberry jam on my toast. But I limit my bread consumption now.

I see. I love muffins with margarine and jam. Yummy! Reminds me when I have all the muffins I can have when eating at hotel buffet breakfast when on vacation. What is it in bread that you can't eat?

I used to eat a lot of toast with peanut butter when I was a kid. That was my comfort food. Now I really have to be in the mood to eat anything with peanut butter. I don't know what happened.
My all-time favorite is toasted sourdough bread with real butter. I love it.

Pardon my ignorance. What is sourdough bread? I have never tasted that before.

Normally I have plain butter on my toast, lots of it. I love it with my coffee. Actually it's just margarine with the word "butter" in its brand name, but I like its taste enough and it's much cheaper than real butter. Every now and then, we treat ourselves to real butter, and wow!

I did mention to Opal above that I used to have margarine on my bread with sprinklings of sugar. Kids, I guess, they all love anything with sugar. But it tastes great together, you should try it. And thanks for reading my articles at Triond and commenting at my blog! Cheers!

Lovely! Yup! Sometimes I like some tangerine jam on my bread too. But I usually prefer something sweeter.

It diffres from timeto time. Butter, cheese and kaya are my favourites. I like Peanut butter too. It has a nice taste. My son loves it too. Turkey isn't my favourite. It is tasteless to my tongue. It takes a lot of time to bake too.

Kaya is not my favorite, but I have it sometimes. I like peanut butter, but seldom have that now, until my daughter is older to have. I'm sure it will stick at her throat and may cause her to cough or something. How old is your son?

I love to have it plain and have some egg as well as hot dog with hot coffee with cream! LOL! But, sometimes, I love to put butter on top!

Reminds me of having breakfast at a restaurant we had a couple of months ago. Similar to what you described. Really scrumptious!

I like peanut butter on toast or just butter. I also like toasted cheese sandwhiches. For normal sandwhiches where I dont toast the bread I like butter, peanut butter and banana. I do like turkey and hamd too but with just mircale whip bacon would be good on it too but I don't care for lettuce or tomato.

So where do you get your fibre from? You must be one of those blood type which is very flexible, meaning you can eat all kinds of food, without getting stomach problems. If I don't get enough fibre, I'll get constipated. I have never tried peanut butter and banana. I might try it today.

I sounds delicious. I used to just have it without the cinnamon and toasting, just bread, margarine and sugar. I love it when I was young. Would love to taste your sugar toasts

Well I usually have cheese on it but on some days I love peanut better and coco jam. Coco jam is made from coconut milk and sugar. It really tastes good. SOmetimes too I just put condensed milk on my bread.

Coco jam! Hmm! I have never had that. Then again, maybe I had it before but never knew it's called coco jam. When I was young, I would put condensed on my bread and topped with cocoa powder. I love it. This discussion is bringing back old memories of what I used to eat when I was young.

Hey sydney! I like to have just marjorine on my toast.
Sometimes I will put cheese on it. Sometimes I will
have an egg with ham. If I'm just in the mood for toast
though I will stick to having just butter or marjorine.
I do love my toast, especially in the winter with a nice
hot cup of tea!

Hey Mike! I love crunchy peanut butter,
but I seldom have that because my husband can't take nuts, gives him migraine. So we usually settle for something both of us can take, usually jam.

It all depends... I like taking untoasted toast bread and put bologna and lettuce on it, no add-ons like salad dressing or mayo or anything. It tastes amazing.
If I toast it, I like putting a slice of american or cheddar cheese between two slices of mozzarella, then putting it in the microwave for around 10-15 seconds on high. And, if we have pizza sauce left over, I put that on too. Tastes so very good, and better than those ready-made pizza things you get from the supermarket.

I like to spread the bread with pizza spread and keep some cucumber and spray pepper on it and with some tomatoes, it tastes yummy, i would like to grab and consume a lot, my friend's mom is good at making this kind of bread, i eat a lot from her box.My mom just spreads it with jam, mixed fruit jam, or i just dip it in coffee or tea, it gives a different taste and im used to it:P sometimes we also spread just sugar or honey over it and consume it:)

If it's bread with a meal, it's just butter.
I like a PB&J sandwich, and also like that on my toast. Sometimes toast will be just butter, sometimes butter with cinnamon sugar, sometimes butter with a banana sliced on top. That's the best!

I find that Americans are well known for loving PB&J sandwich. I also love butter and sugar, but never tried it with cinnamon sugar though. Will try it soon!

It depends what mood im in and what time of the day it is...for example if it's the morning love it or hate it it has to be butter with a dollop of marmite spreaded over the top.
For lunch, dinner or a snack I would normally opt for cheesy, spicy beans on toast. Always ensures a quick and easy meal which can be made within five minutes.
Not forgetting the numerous other spreads I enjoy like peanut butter, jam and cheese and onion.

I agree with your quick and easy meal philosophy. I don't like to spend too much time preparing for a meal and sandwiches are great!
