Long weekends, work or play

I am exhausted. Pretty funny that the hubby and I are always glad to come back to work to get some rest. We have an older home, built by his great grandfather and it has a number of lovely quirks. Anyhow, during holidays is the only time we have to work on the place. A few months ago we painted the main portion of the house, outside. This time we began on the trim, scraping and prepping and then painting it. We also put up some split rail fencing to try to manage the wisteria that was going wild. We did take a little time to relax. We took the dog to the park and played with her. And we did cook out yesterday. We are back at work today. Both of us a lot tired and a lot sore. So, long weekends, do you work or do you play or a little of both?

hello carolyn, sounds like a lot of fun and a lot of work too haha! i am happy that you guys are enjoying every moment and uses them in a manner that is very useful indeed (is it? LOL) kidding aside, im sure despite the hard work both of you have a huge smile on your faces when the painting is over. do you still need to do some more fixing after that? i love old houses, i dont know why but i have a deep connection to old stuff. i think that's the main reason why i picked the craftsman's house in case we move forward on building a home instead of buying a built one. btw, i enjoy any form of carpentry and anything that needs labor. my mom often says that i am a bit tomboy that way but i am such a girl when it comes to height or anything that involves dare devil stunt LOL anyway, most of the time our weekends are mostly fun time, it is very rare that he have to work during this time coz he wants to make sure that we are spending quality time together. if we are not out in the nature, we will just be driving around or be at the mall or just stay home watched a lot of movies and just hang around in our couch. we would like to take advantage of those times that we are both single coz we want to be more parent when it arrives. btw, yesterday we went out and meet his best friend. they've been friends since child hood so it is nice to come see them and play with the kids. takecare

No sweetie, we are a long ways from done. We painted the trim around the windows and doors over the weekend. That still leaves the doors themselves, the brick work at the base of the house, both of those will be in burgandy. The house is white with a green metal roof. The window trim and door trim is green also. We still have the four corner posts of the house which will be green. There are inside repairs to be made too. There is a wall in the living room that has settled and the bathroom needs redone. We want to redo the flooring in the kitchen, bedroom and bathroom too. It will be quite some time before we are "done". But we do get a lot of satisfaction from the accomplishments though. Glad you got out and enjoyed yourself. Hugs, Carolyn

The only work I do is mental. Everything else is playing.

Hi Carolyn63! For me, I prefer playing to working, especially for long weekends. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy!!!However, sometimes we still need to settle some time to deal with the working issue. That's too bad, right? But you have no choice! Anyway, try to enjoy yourself no matter work or play....have a nice day!
