Many of you'll have heard of mercy killing and all about it I guess. For those of you'll who don't know what it is here is the meaning: "An easy or painless death, or the intentional ending of the life of a person suffering from an incurable or painful disease at his or her request." OR "The intentional termination of the life of one human being by another. " So do you'll thing this is right or wrong according to you? Justify you answer.

I guess mercy killing is right and wrong! I know that this doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but there are circumstances where it would be right, and again there are circumstances whereby it would be wrong. If you are referring to someone who is suffering horrendously through pain and diesease then a mercy killing in my view would be most appropriate. On the other hand, if there's a chance that someone's pain and suffering can be made to be less painful and traumatic then I guess a mercy killing would be inappropriate. I know that there's the saying that one human life should not take the life of another but, the whole idea of mercy killing is not black and white and there are shades of grey in between! Many years from now if I end up on my deathbed and I am in extreme pain then I would like to think that Euthenasia would become law by then! Provided I still had my faculties, I was able to think logically for myself; I would request that my life be taken by lethal injection! Andrew

Mercy killing is good only when the person who is suffering from an incurable Disease or pain, agrees! Some people dont even ask and just decide between themselves (mostly relatives) so thats wrong!

I believe in ending of suffering when it comes to animals. Like if a cat got run over and it's still alive, and there's no possible way you could save it, a mercy killing is due. But Humans I find it a bit different. My belief system states that Thou shall not Murder. Murdering and Killing are two different things, and there have been wars in the name of God that involve a lot of killing. So, I believe that "letting" someone die, is always appropriate. Say someone is on life support.. well if it weren't for the technology today that person wouldn't be alive, so if it's the families or the person's if they're able to communicate wish to be terminated, I find it perfectly fine. Some might argue with me and say that I "can't play God" by choosing someone's life. But, the same argument can be made against it by saying that you "can't play God" by making someone STAY ALIVE with all the technology you have.

I think it's the right thing to do. I do not really have religion in my life so I don't know if that applies as an issue to some people about it. But I think that sometimes we have to think logically and try to solve problems. There is no benefit in keeping someone alive just so they can suffer but their loved ones will not have to bury them.
