Is it our ancestors who died without seeing the modern gadgets or we who are living with the modern gadgets that is flooding into our life every day?

I'll have to say our ancestors. We don't realize it but maintaining these gadgets takes longer than the work at hand and it can be a pain sometimes. I prefer the grinding stone to the mixie...gives me exercise...doesn't need electricity and easier to clean. People who know me would be really surprised that I think this way because I grew up outside India and gadgets was part of my life and I didn't know about the old-fashioned (good) way of doing things till I came to India. My very own relatives were surprised that I did everything the old fashioned way (had to learn from scratch) after I was married. They never thought I would even be interested in doing it...and trust me, I enjoyed it much more than using the gadgets.

I agree with you on one thing. The modern gadgets are cumbersome and consumes energy. And you don't get exercised with them.

I think lucky and unlucky are in both sides. I would say our ancestors are lucky because they did not see how modern technology are changing people attitude, it become more practical as they called this time, heart is not included anymore 100%. They are unlucky because they not get a chance to see how world have change so much from wars to technology. And for the young once this time too bad for us we did get a chance to see the amazing life they have in old times and we can never make beautiful history like they created.

I think our ancestors. In oldern times though there were no modern gadgets, but the people were nice and friendly to each other and they used to work physically, keeping the fit. Modern gadgets though are boon, but they have made our lifestyle very sedantry, landing us in different kind of illness.

I think that we are luckier than our ancestors ,but sometimes we don't appreciate all the modern things we have ,and sometimes people with less are happier.

I personally think that both our ancestors and we are lucky in our own way. Our ancestors were lucky because they did not had all those gadgets, so they didn't cared collecting and spending money on them. But they missed a lot of fun and entertainment due to this. We, on the other hand have those gadgets but waste a lot of money on them which could have been ended somewhere useful. So, we both are lucky in our own way. We have a lot of worries about having the up-to-date gadgets and thus waste a lot of money on it, while our ancestors were free of such tensions. So there is not a perfect answer to this question whether we, or our ancestors were more lucky, but in my view, We are luckier than our ancestors. Cheers! AJ Rox.

I think that the people today are the luckiest. I have what people would consider a physical disability. I am not actually disabled because I have been able to adapt, but people still consider being legally blind, and having problems moving, to be physical disabilities. Anyway, I would not be able to life the life that I life, if it were not for modern technology.

That is a very good point to substantiate that we are lucky indeed.

Hi bala, personally I think our ancestors were better off mainly because the things we have today, although we think are good-to our ancestors they would of meant of been horrified as to how lazy the modern gadgets have made us..plus how dangerous the Internet can be..there is a number of things they would of done without the gadgets of today, eg the washing up, used a telephone box instead of having an extra bill using a mobile phone, done more reading than using e-books and many other things...LoLo
