Not since before the 1965 DNC has the post convention bounce for a democratic nominee been this small and certainly not as short lived! The following article points to reasons BHO's campaign might be in serious trouble over the next couple months! With the down-sizing of the RNC and coming off a live speech in front of 80,000 plus people in Denver BHO could only muste a few points, most of whic he has lost in one weekend! Here is the article: http://news.yahoo.com/s/politico/13068

With all of the MSM playing up the Obama's night at Denver you would have at lest thought that Obama would have gotten about a ten point bounce. Any bounce that McCain receives will just be profit, since all of Obama's bounce has gone away. Usually a convention bounce last until the other party's convention is over with. With Obama's bounce gone and McCain's bounce fixing to start upward, it is not looking too good for the Messiah.

I read the article and it was quite as negative as you seemed to make it. The article used the words "slightly smaller." I know that is only one little word but it does make a difference. :-) As to why it was shorter lived than normal, I beleive that comes from a five letters ... P a l i n. It was a great political coup. He with held her name until that particular moment and then made his annoucement blunting the bounce. In polotics it was a great chess move.

Perhaps one of the reasons for the low "bounce" is that it will be a very "neck-in-neck" race. I believe people do not want more of the same as with Bush, yet there are a lot of people that are interested to see what McCain has to offer before they make up their minds. People are being very cautious this time around. They want to make sure they contribute for the changes they want, but not just change for change sake. It will be interesting to see what the poles show after the Republican Convention.
