I blinked and missed summer

This August was cool and rainy. A newspaper said that it has been our worst summer in the last 150 years. Saturday 30th August was a sunny and dry day so I headed off to the beach with my toddler son and two dogs. I felt it might be the last warm sunshine of the year. Now we are in September it is autumn. I really don't feel I have had summer this year. I went to Latvia for my holiday so I should have gone further south for some sun. Is weather in your homeland as you expect it should be? How hot is it in your local area? Should I plan a winter holiday? If you were me where would you go?

I think with the kids going back to school tomorrow in our area truly marks the end of Summer, but yes we did blink and we did miss it. There was an article in the paper to show just how crazy our Summer has been. On Saturday the beach at Bournemouth was crowded, on Sunday it was empty because of the weather! This time last year I was getting prepared for my winter holiday to Rhodes! Time sure does fly. If I had a winter holiday I think one of the other Greek islands would be my destination my friend. Greece itself, least in October it's not unbearably hot!

I think we all blinked and summer was over. It was not a very good summer for most people, it seems. I don't know where the time went this summer. I didn't get out as much as usually this year. Usually I do a lot of camping and fishing and hiking, but not this year. This year the weather didn't cooperate for most of us. I did get some camping in but not much. I hope next summer is better because I now live in Calgary again and I love the mountains and I hope to go to them more next summer. I love to go hiking and it is too hard to do that when the weather is rainy or just not nice and sunny. Alrighty then, talk to you later my friend, Have a good mylotting day, Chris

It has went awfully fast and I'm hoping that Fall slows down b/c it's my favorite time of the year. I love the cool air, the colors and the holidays. Here in Missouri it's pretty much normal weather for us. Where you go would depend on what you want. If you want cool I'd head to the Northern states, if you want hot I'd head to the Southern states...we're in the middle so we tend to get the best of both. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

Oh I know - it's been absolutely terrible! I kept on thinking that maybe tomorrow would be sunny and it never came and now when I go out I find it has that cold chill in the air so it really has gone altogether!! Boo! x

It is hot here in sunny California, as usual. If you can afford to plan a winter holiday, and you have the time for, then go for it. I suggest San Diego. Most people go there to see Sea World and Legoland no matter what time of the year it is.

I live in South Florida, so right now for us its the hottest muggiest time of the year. I'd love a little cool down but its not to be yet! I guess no one is happy with what they have. We have beach weather pretty much all year long. You can come this way in the winter if its warm beaches you crave. Wherever you go, I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time.

Like maximax I live in the UK too. This year though, I was away for a whole month in Holland, from early July to early August. There was a mix of weather there too, but with some warm, beautiful days. Was on a personal improvement vacation, so spent quite a bit of time indoors, with a group of about 70 people. It was great when we went off into the local village seaside resort, which had a friendly feel to it. It's difficult to say whether another person should plan a winter holiday/ vacation, as our priorities can be so different, plus of course our financial situations. Assuming money/ time was no problem, a month in Australia/ New Zealand or Argentina would be appealing, as for one it would be summer over there! Well, food for thought!

I know the feeling! Someone told me (back at the beginning (lol) of summer) that summer this year was on a Tuesday, he just wasn't sure which one! We were lucky enough to have a week in Spain the week before school hols started, then the first week of the school hols (in the UK) was great .. and then it has been pretty miserable since then! How was Latvia - I haven't ever been there! A winter holiday - Oh yeah!!! What about going to Andora skiing - then let me know how it was, I want to try to take the kids skiing sometime soon so some feedback would be gratefully received - lol. Alternatively, for a bit of sun - what about Spain? Even in winter it isn't that cold. We were there one year in November and it wasn't too bad. Not very very hot, but we could wear t-shirts and shorts and costumes ... but no real suntan I'm afraid. Violetdreams

i am from aquite a hottest place from india but since from 2years we are in germany and its the entirely opposite weather here and its very cold here. yes last summer here was very hot but this year its not too hot and i dont how the winter is going to be. most of the times in summer i thought that winter is arrived and i need to use blanket and i didnt find it so good. we had been to switzerland in june and june is seem to experience severe summer but we didnt find so and it was rainy most of the time and the climate was just disappointing this summer. it depends on you if you want some good hot weather then you need to move on in search of hotter place and have a winter vacation. winters really very long and hence we have also planned our home trip in january and hence i can get a little hot in india in this month. but somehow going in jan is fine and i can skip out one month of winter here and enjoy at my place . wish you all the best for winter vacation.

I live in Chicago, IL and the weather has been either hot and sticky, nice and comfy or just plain crazy which is usually for time of year. My mom said she was listening to Tom Skilling, weatherman on WGN here in Chicago and said we are in a meteorological fall. Yeah right lol. As for where to go, if I were you, I want to either go to Ireland or Japan for a winter holiday.

I'm from Tennessee. We'll probably end summer by November. If you would like to send us any of that rain, feel free.

I live in Seattle, known to be very rainy. We've had an interesting summer, in terms of weather. Our weather was very strange. It'd be blazing hot one day, but then the next it'd be pouring rain. Seattle weather reports are constantly wrong, because the weather can change so fast. Today is actually pretty nice outside. The temperature is nice, probably around 70 or so. I think since you missed out on your summer holiday, you should go to a warm place for your winter holiday! One of my personal favorite warm places is Mazatlan, Mexico. The water is very clean, the beaches are nice, and there is a lot to be seen. The hotel I stayed at when I was in Mazatlan is called El Cid. I highly recommend it. The customer service is great there. I hope this helps! Good luck on your winter vacation
