My son said they sent their baby's picture in for a contest and got an email saying he was one of the picks for a book. The book costs $70. If you get 2 of them, it's $60. I don't understand what this is all about and am afraid it's some kind of scam. Has anyone heard of them and gotten any book from them? I think the name of it Great American Baby Photo Contest.

I've never done one of these, but I've heard of them. I thought it was a scam. I've seen the books, but really, who wants a book with a bunch of strangers' kids in it, and one picture of their own kid? If I want pictures of my kids, I'll spend $70, and have a bunch of copies of various poses to share with people who would actually want to see them. I'm pretty sure the company accepts anyone who enters.

That's what my husband and I were thinking too. I told my son we didn't want to buy a book. I'm like you. If I wanted to spend that much, I'd just take him and have his picture taken.

I just had receive a letter of them by mail....When I opened my mail box I just got afraid....why my baby's picture came in a letter??...We were excited about our cute baby....also because is our first one....but it is true.....why we have to spend 70 dollars for a book full of strangers babies......and only 1/4 of a page with our baby pic....with that money I can make my own baby book.....with different pics of her and our beloved one....and may be we still have money for an ice cream....

I submitted a picture for their contest and paid my fee. Afterward, I read the terms and did not see any mention of 'countries' eligible anywhere and when I tried to contact them, (I'm in Canada)their contact form is meant only for the USA. I emailed then 3X and asked for some answers to my questions. 1. Is Canada eligible for the contest? 2. Why their contact form was only for USA 3. Why is there no mention of countries in their terms for eligibility? After my 3rd email, I received a short reply. It said: TheCuteKid is open to the world. I replied myself stating: I know it's open to the world, but you didn't answer my question. I asked is the CONTEST open to other countries. As you can see, they think I'm stupid and would accept their reply and submit another fee for another picture and just keep going. Please don't be fooled. Read the terms before giving these people anything for a contest. As you can also see, their pages of winners are all USA.

Its not a scam they will send you a book but I think the contest is bs. Its basically a way to get you to get a bunch of people to visit their site and then they spam the crap out of you. I sent in one of my daughters pictures and had like 15 emails from them over the next few hours. I immediately withdrew her picture. I do believe they send out the books but so does photography.com but is it really worth it? I know I have entered "junk" pictures before and got the same email about they were chosen to be in such and such book. I wouldnt pay for it if I were you but that is just me.

I dont know about the book. I am sure that they will send you one. But I dont think the contest is real because i have submitted both my kids several times and i always get the exact same email that you are talking about. I think it is just a way to sell their books.

THIS IS A SCAM! My mom insisted on purchasing a book and did so back in August 2008. Now we're in March 2009 and still, no book. I found tons of sites online where people have been taken by the Great American Baby Photo Contest through photography.com. I filed a complaint with the BBB and I'm working to get my mom's $70 back. What makes this company sketchy is that you can not hunt down an email address, phone number or any contact information whatsoever. When I did snag a phone number off someone who had previously complained about them, the number went straight to a voice message saying they were not taking calls.....they're just taking people's money. WARNING, YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE A BOOK FROM THEM. BEWARE!

I heard of this before they get you all excited about your baby being in a book and then they want you to pay for the book, they should give it to you for free.my daughter once entered a poetry contest and won first place and they said she had to buy the book if she wanted to get a certificate saying that she won
