Doing the things that we keep putting off for another day

Most of us have had the experience of tackling some dreaded task only to come out the other side feeling stimulated, filled with a new sense of confidence and strength. The funny thing is, most of the time when we do them, we come out on the other side changed and often wondering what we were so worried about or why it took us so long. We may even begin to look for other tasks we have been avoiding so that we can feel that same kind of excitement and completion again. Whether we avoid something because it scares us or bores us, or because we think it will force a change we’re not ready for, putting it off only creates obstacles for us. On the other hand, facing the task at hand, makes us feel better and when we stand on the other side knowing that we did something even though it was hard or we didn't want to do it, gives us new faith in ourselves and our abilities. We all have at least one thing in our life that never seems to get done. Bringing that task to the top of the list and promising ourselves that we will do it as soon as possible is an act that could liberate a tremendous amount of energy in our lives. Whatever it is, we can allow ourselves to be fueled by the promise of the feelings of exhilaration and confidence that will be the natural result of doing it.

I am personally guilty of that sometimes. There are certain things I dread doing and I always put off till I feel like doing it. On the other hand, there are other things which I also dread doing but I will do it immediately so as to get it off mind. I think it's about time I should learn to prioritize and do the most important things first rather than do the thing I feel like doing first. Thanks for reminding me.

Hi Pose123! I completely agree dear friend! I often feel so relieved, exhilarated, contented and proud after a completed task. During the process of doing the task or even just thinking about the task, I worry and I get tremendous amount of stress especially when the task at hand is not I planned to do but was being forced to me to do by someone else. This could really make my smiles a little sour. haha..Nevertheless after battling with my own self and finishing the task, I felt happy and contented. You are very right in saying that "facing the task at hand, makes us feel better and when we stand on the other side knowing that we did something even though it was hard or we didn't want to do it, gives us new faith in ourselves and our abilities". I do think that we should just have the courage and the faith within ourselves to face all our tasks and trials because at the end of the day, it will surely make us better individuals. Take care always..God Bless!

I find that if I make myself a list of the things I have to get done, I'm more apt to get them done. If I just think about doing them, I conveniently push them out of my mind. Since I'm the one doing them most of the time they wait for me even when I manage to get out of them . **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

Well cleaning my garden is one of those things that I keep delaying ,and once I accomplish the work is a great deal of accomplishment. Is nice to see a nice curb appeal since is important to get rid off the bad grass.

Absolutely right and i could not agree more on that ^_^ The reason we keep putting off things is because we are lazy and we dun have much confident in doing that particular thing, till one day, we finally have to do it, all the motivation is gone because we have put it off for so long, and naturally in our mindset, since it can be put off, it's not much of an importance to us, so we it do it in a sloppy way.. But when we dun put it off, face it immediately, we will feel a sense of accomplishment as well as more confident because we are challenging ourselves, which is good for us ^_^ hehe
