Slim Fast vs. Ovaltine

I was thinking the other day about whether SlimFast was any better than Ovaltine in terms of nutritional value. I have been having SlimFast for lunch every day at work because I don't really have time for a "real" lunch break. I was thinking that Ovaltine or NesQuik might be cheaper and just as nutritionally sound. What do you think? Continue the SlimFast or switch to Ovaltine?

SlimFast is formulated to make you feel full with some of the same additives as Metamucil. Other than that, Ovaltine with low fat milk is every bit as good.

Thank you for your response. The slimfast is close to a dollar a can at the store by my house. I will have to think about the price of a gallon of milk, $3.59, last time I looked and the price of the Ovaltine. I think the milk and Ovaltine might still be more affordable than the shakes.

I used to drink a SlimFast once in a while when I was trying to gain weight. I drank it in addition to regular meals, when I wanted a sweet snack with more nutrition than a candy bar. I cannot quite understand why anyone would think that such a sugary beverage would be an appropriate meal replacement, however. They must not have read the label :-) I think the formula for Ovaltine may change a bit from time to time, but initially it was promoted as a healthy beverage because of the malt, which is made from sprouted wheat and barley, I believe. Personally, I would opt for the Ovaltine (and take a mulivitamin/mineral supplement!)
