I don't remember the movie very well, but I know that I did see it not long after it came out. I do like all of the music from the movie. I also love his music, whatever name he wants to go by.

I finally saw it a few months ago. Why? Because I moved to Minnesota and felt obligated. And I have to say, I think it's my favorite 80s movie now. People had been urging me to see it for so long and I should have listened to them. It's very entertaining. And I do have a deeper appreciation for his music now. After I watched it I started to read a lot more about his life. He's had quite a career. Fascinating fellow. And great musician, of course. And it was cool to go to a concert at First Avenue, knowing that's where it all took place.

I love Purple Rain, though I am conflicted as to whether or not it is one of the great music films of all-time. The soundtrack is easily one of the best of any movie (and deservedly won an Oscar), but the movie is pretty pedestrian. Still, it has a certain elan and Prince is a musical genius, so it's easy to overlook its many flaws.
