It's really funny that you would ask this question because just earlier today I was thinking about the name 'Doc' for a Dachsund. That would be such a cute name! Purrs, Catwoman=^..^= & Mija (my furangel)

boy, that's a TOUGH question ! it's all so personalized. i either go by a descriptive name or interpret their behavior or some characteristic of their body. my one cat is named poi as he is from hawaii. my other cat is called carmelita as she is a drama diva. i'd go with some name to represent his coloring. indigo black jack smokey onyx

Wow, that is such a matter of personal preference. I like to go by my animal's personality when naming them. Is he distinguished? How about Winston? Is he playful and energetic? How about Buddy? We have a little kitten that sounds like she is squeaking when she meows so her name is Squeaker.

Hi marshiemallows well since its a he you couldnt name him Pansy cause thats a girl dogs name. How about Doxie? or Ebony cause he is black, Or Black Doxie. We had two dashounds, one adult girl and one baby boy. Our baby boy was named Lucky and he followed some kids thru a hole in a fence and those kids watched my poor puppy drown in the canal before they came to get us. Our female was named pansy. I miss having dogs as we live in an apartment complex that doesnt allow pets. grrrr.

Got a dauchshund too but his gone already...i named him bauer or you can name your dog dixie or kitchi.

You should find him a good german name since dachshunds are german dogs Hanz, Fritz or even Wienerschnitzle I have four and their names are Schnapps, Peaches,(Peach Schnapps) Sebastian Bachshund (Sebastian Bach)and Missy (she came with that name from rescue) Please don't name him Oscar that's the most common dachshund name there is.
