Do you do this? LOL! I see many people who talk more with their hands and bodies than their mouths. Are you one of them? Does it feel like you're missing part of your voice if you have a broken arm or wrist and can't move it around to help make your point? Why do you suppose this is so? I don't so much use my hands but I do use body language and a lot of facial expressions. I tend to giggle at people who just stand there and stare at you when they talk and are very stoic. I think I have always been rather animated. This translates well on the phone too, my husband is much better in person than over the phone.

I am terrible about talking with my hands. I can remember having to get up in front of people in school to give reports and my friends making fun of me because I like to talk with my hands. I'm not sure why, it's just a habit and I guess it kind of makes me feel a bit more comfortable if I can talk with my hands. I try to make it a habit to cut down on the amount I use my hands when I'm speaking but I do find it a bit hard. I can do it, but it just does not feel natural to me not to use my hands.

I am more on facial expressions, I only use my hands when I want to emphasize something! LOL! And I know most of the time, I need to act out and need to stand and do the body to give more meaning to what I am talking! But, not often though!

Yea i tend to talk with my hands. FOr some reason using my hands help me express what I am trying to say and helps emphasize what I am trying to say. I dont know too many people who do not use their hands while they talk.

I do have a lot of facial expressions but not much hand gestures hehe. I know some people who are very animated while talking or telling a story. They can change their voices and even act out the whole story for you effortless. They make you more into the story by doing that without them even noticing what they are doing hehe. It is really fun listening to those people although sometimes it gets too distracting when they keep being animated haha.

oh thats funny, I have to keep an eye on this one because I dont even know. I think I use more facial expressions than my hands but it could be possible that i just failed to notice but I know I do use exaggerating facial expressions to get my point across just like if I used my hands to do the same. I have never notice my boyfriend to do this, he is rather laid back but when he is talking about something that he thinks is important he has a way of giving this peircing state when he ask "what do you think about that?" but I like when he's serious like that because its kind of hot.

I'm Portuguese. Of course I talk with my hands.. and the rest of my body LOL It just doesn't seem to convey the same meaning if I don't use them. Although, apparently - I was told the other day - I don't talk that much with my hands for a Portuguese person hehehehe I guess I need more practice :) I use my hands even when talking over the phone. Of course the person on the other side can't see it, but I still use them LOL

Back in the days before we had vocal chords (I'll ask my husband if he remembers them! lol) the most common way of communicating was using our hands and other forms of body language. These days, we seem to like the sounds of our own voices too much, so have lost the art of reading the subtleties the body gives when talking with someone. People making a speech will often use their hands to add greater emphasis to what they are saying, just look at any politician. It can be very easy to tell if someone is lying to you as well. It is all in the tone of voice, the way their body is moving and of course, all in the face. These things will also tell you what a person really thinks of you too, if you are prepared to listen with your eyes. A kiss or hug is a form of non verbal communication too, it tells the recipient that we care about them. I can't stand talking on the phone. I prefer being able to see the face of a person in order to see what they are really going on about.

Hahaha OMG I am like that when talking on the phone. My hands are moving all around and it's like I'm talking to the person face-to-face. I know its not right and I do have a voice but I can't help it. The hands just keeps moving. Maybe its a habit. A funny habit hahaha Ciao!

I to am animated during a conversation. I even find that while talking on the phone I am still using jesters and noticed that while working in a call center alot of the people there were still using there hand while speaking on the phone. It is kind of funny if you think about it. Its not like the people on the other end can see you, I guesse it is kind of a habit. I find it hard to talk and not use my body to to communicate at the same time. I actually hurt my hand once and was not able to use it for about a month that was really hard for me because I found myself trying to way it around while talking.

Sometimes. But not always, I mean it would feel awkward and it would look really ugly if we keep moving our hands, but same thing goes if I just talk like a stone. I'm more of a facial expression or somtimes you can see what I am feeling just by "looking" in my eyes.

It really happens to a lot of people nowadays. Maybe they are just fed up with a lot of things on their mind. So, instead of talking and saying their thoughts aloud, they just do it and show it to you. I am never like that because I'm a conversationalist, a talkative one at that.

I usually just use body language when speaks to others but i tend to move my hands when i am taking in front my classmate when presenting. I know a few friends that are always moving their hands even when talking in the cellphones.

As a magician I do a lot of hand gestures when I talk while performing. Well I was really so used to it that even when I talk normally to people you could see my hands move as well. It helps me explain things and express my feelings better.

Hey mommyboo! So you're one of those animated talkers! Let me think a minute. Actually, I find myself standing with one hand on my hip when I'm talking. I don;t think I am all that animated. I am not a hand talker. I may use body language and definitely use facialy expressions. That I'm sure of, especially if one of my friends is there and we are making faces behind whomever's back we are talking to! I can be very funny with my expressions!

its like something that is inborn with them!! i feel that some people do that in order to express whatever they say a still more deeper!! but too much of such actions will surely make people laugh at them!! moving hands and body to some extent while talking is the way that most people do!!! but it should also be in a controlled manner!! hahaha
