That is indeed a problem... when my daughter was in that not keeping still stage... i let her wear the pull up diaper... so that i can put it on even when she is standing up... or when i am carrying her... i then went back to the old fashioned diapers when she learned how to keep still when i am changing her...

My daughter is 19 months old and she will sometimes still do this. Sometimes she just flat out runs away. She started around your sons age. She is getting better about it. I just keep putting her back where she needs to be and eventually she started sitting still better. Good luck getting him to sit still.

I run a daycare and know what you are talking about. It is so hard to change a diaper when the child is rolling over. I usually will get a toy that they child likes and give it to them when changing their diaper. This sometimes works to keep their attention until I am done.

I have to agree with everyone else who has already responded here. I have found that with all four of my children that distraction is the best method for diaper changing time. Keeping some small toys that they only get to play with during this time might work. Sometimes I would let them hold something of mine because for some reason mommy's stuff is always so much more interesting than their own.

Try giving him something he doesn't play with often. That may keep his attention long enough to change him. Also, get everything ready before you start, clean diaper opened up, wipes out, then change him as quickly as possible. Busy toddlers don't like to sit still even for a minute or two, so making it quick will make it easier.
You could also try singing. Toddlers often pay more attention to singing than speaking. Play peekaboo, ask him to show you his nose, ears, etc.
