What is it about 'The Rocky Horror Picture Show'?

I love this film and I have dressed up to watch it in the theatre. I have loads of friends that love this film too. It has an amazing cult following. What I really want to know though is, why is it that it is mainly women that enjoy this movie? I have only one male friend who likes this film and he is gay! So is there anyone out there that can answer my question for me:- Why does this film make men feel uncomfortable when they watch it? Do you like this film too? What are your views on this movie?

I think because in general, more women enjoy musicals than men, rather than the content. I do know a fair few men that love Rocky though. straight men

my straight male frends tend towards campness. which isn't the same as gay. my partner and my stepdad flirt shamelessly. if I didn't know that they were as straight as anything, I'd be worried that both me and my mother would have broken relationships. campness is rather lovely in a straight man though. it demonstrates strength and self confidence.

This film is a favorite of mine. I think women enjoy it because it's so silly, and the songs are catchy and it's just really fun. Men see other men dressed in drag and running around in heels, stalkings and corsets and are bound to feel threatened by it. Not to mention the homosexual overtones of Rocky/Franknfurter/Brad. Janet! Dr Scott! Janet!! Brad! ROCKY! (look) I don't know why. I just thought the movie was hilarious when I was a teen. Man, now I wanna go watch it. My husband and I were out shopping this afternoon and we saw this disheveled looking guy who looked a LOT like Riff Raff. We got out to the parking lot and my husband broke out in song "I remember...doing the Time Warp!" and we did a little dance in the lot. People were looking at us funny. Kind of a funny coincidence that I came across this discussion now.

I was at the cinema recently, and there was a trailer for the remake of The Day The Earth Stood Still. and couldn't resist breaking into Science Fiction. my favourite song from it, definitely. but also particularly love Superheroes and Touch Me.

Oh yeah, Superheroes is one of my favorite songs too. I just...darn it, I like them all. I can't think of any point in the movie where I start thinking "I wish I could fast forward." And I've been known to irritatingly quote the movie at inappropriate moments. lol.

I love the Rockky Horror show!!! xD I'm a girl, and I don't really know any males that like the movie either. many of my guy friends liked to make fun of it before, though, lol. I love the time warp! I think it'd be so fun to have a Rocky horror-themed party, have everyone dress up and dance, lol.

That's what i would like to know iv seen part of the film and i had a hard time figuring it out lol. all i remember about it is that silly song, lets do the time warp again, i just dont get what the appeal is lol.
