Can candles really bring good luck, money, and romance?

I was given one of those 7-day candles by my daughter yesterday, and I must admit it had been a very long time since I'd seen one. they are supposed to bring you luck if you leave them burning for 7 days. My mother used to use them years ago before she became so involved with the church. I have probably used a couple over the years myself. What do you think of such things? Can they bring money, luck, and romance into your life? I have not lit mine yet but I really could use a bit of good luck right now.

Im a witch so I do believe in those things! If you believe in them and that they can change your life they will work. Whether its you changing something in your life to accomplish the goal is one thing to argue... but things like these are always just for fun if you don't believe... I mean your not losing anything... and if they dont work at least your house will smell pretty right?!?

Anything can be considered lucky if enough emphasis is put onto it, lucky horseshoes, rabbits foot (although not lucky for the rabbit!) it's all superstition and even I used to think that if I went on a date with red boxers I'd be more luckier, seemed to work but that's a different story. If you believe in something my friend then that will be as much luck as having candles! Whilst I am not disregarding people's attitude towards candles or other such items it's what we believe and if someone believes strongly in some 'thing' bringing them luck then it probably will. You have absolutely NOTHING to lose by trying out the candle my friend. But I'd rather send you some karma and hope that you do get some good luck, you sure deserve it ;0)

As always, wolfie, you are so eloquent -and kind. I don't consider myself overly superstitious, but, I can use all of the good karma you are willing to send!

Yes, they work. If you believe they do. The power isn't in the candle, but in your faith. If you believe that burning that candle for 7 days will bring about the good fortune you desire, while burning them your subconscious goes to work on bringing about the conditions you desire. So if you believe wholeheartedly that the candles will work for you, they will.

Hi worldwise. It's not really the candle itself that can bring good luck, money or romance but the "power of intent" that is the thought behind the desire...we who follow the pagan/wiccan path all the time use candles as our power of intent or focus on our prayers (or naturally as we call them, "spells") I always have a yellow candle burning to represent success, green for prosperity...sometimes blue (or white) for healing...Other color candles used for different purposes are..pink is usually good for romance..red for strength or intense love..blue is also good for protection. Black candles are usually used for super duper protection prayers (spells) or banishing negativity in one's life. Lots of times what I do before I begin using a candle is to write out my prayer twice...once for attaching it on the candle itself, and another so after I say the prayer out loud I burn the paper so my desire is released into the cosmos...Also one has to know when to do these prayers...from New Moon to Full Moon and good in your life you use that particular color candle (like green for prosperity)...from Full Moon to New Moon you do the prayers to ward off any negativity in your life. There are tons of books about use of candles out there in case you're interested...a good place to check is the Azure Green website as they have tons of books one can buy there. http://www.azuregreen.com/Book_category.html Here's there page specifically for "candle magic" http://www.azuregreen.com/index.html?action=search

Thank you for some of the details about candle burning, pyewacket! My curious nature led me to do some research on the subject several years ago and I learned things like you should always burn a white candle in conjunction with whatever other color candle you are using. Candles bring me a lot of comfort. Thanks for the link!

Hmmmmm i have never heard of this before! And i have to ask! What exactly does the candles do in order to bring this luck to the person that has it? And you have to leave the candle burning for 7 days before the luck comes to you. WOW!!! This is my first time hearing something like this.

They usually come in a tall glass cylinder shape, punkin, and the simple act of burning them is supposed to impart good luck. I lit mine today, but I don't think I will leave it burning for 7 days due to worries about fire. I will probably extinguish it at night and re-light it in the morning. Candle burning has been used for a very long time in various ceremonies.

Not really, you make your own luck and money.

I don't really think that it's the candle that holds the power. I believe that the power lies in yourself. The candle is just something for you to focus on. But you are putting out the energy. You are the one making it happen.

This is some kind of superstitition as far as I know. I knew a hooker who lit candles while she worked. I don't think that made a difference with her actions. Lighting candles are used to show respect and reverence. They don't have magical powers.

I believe that luck only happens when you work hard for it. It is not just like magic that will just come your way even if your not doing anything. A candle might inspire you to persevere but the effectiveness of it as the reason why you will received so many blessings is unlikely to happen. I believe that inorder for a person to succeed in life he/she must give his/her 100% dedication over it. I believe in prayers are answered when you also are doing your part to make it happen. Sometimes there are things we asked to God that are not answered for one reason only and that is because God has something better instore for you. But for a person to wish of something and hope that a candle will give luck will never work. Chinese believe on feng shui but even experts says that charms are just symbols that inspires people to work hard and look at the positive side of life. It makes a person work hard to achieved its dream, but it is never the reason alone why they succeed in life. Perseverance and dedication is the key to make things happen.
