What utter rubbish. I received a letter in the mail today from Pioneer Consumer Research with a check for $3,939.00. I am suppose to complete a mystery shopper survey by buying a $75 product from Wal-Mart, assesing the store and then answering a questionnaire and faxing in the results. Then I am suppose to transfer $3,225 through Western Union or Money Gram and to keep $500 for myself as part of my 'training' salary. WHATEVER~!!! Do they really think I'm going to do something stupid like this? I hope others haven't fallen for scams like this. I wonder if there is a site where I can report them. Does anyone know?

I know you can report it to the BBB in your area. I have already received two of these. The sad thing is some people really do fall for this stuff. I have been a mystery shopper for over 10 years and I have never had a company front me the money, unless it was to be awarded as a prize and then they actually did send me cash.

It just irks me that they think we will be stupid enough to fall for this..I wonder if you contacted Walmart and told them about this they could possibly do something..Afterall they did mention Walmart in the letter... Like they are going to send you almost $4000.00 and expect you to keep $500 and send the rest to them...Yeah, right!!! Maybe the Better Business Bureau could help...It is worth a try...

Exactly. It's not even done well and doesn't have a proper letterhead and it's not even signed. The name and adress on the check doesn't match the company on the letterhead so its definitely done by amateurs. I wonder though, if others have fallen for it. I knew exactly what it was as soon as I opened it up and the check fell out. I just wanted to let others know of the name that's sending out the letters (if they even do exist that is). I'll contact the BBB and see what they say. Thanks my friend!

I actually got a letter like this once in the mail and if I had cashed the check I would have been in trouble. The check was not a good check and I would have been responsible for all of the fees that go along with that. It is sad that people prey on others with things like this but they do and some people fall for this type of scam. I contacted the BBB and they told me to take it to my local law enforcement office and report it. I did and luckily, I may have stopped someone else from falling into the scam.

hello maddysmommy, thanks for sharing the email as our heads up to that kind of email. i am happy that my email account is not receiving that kind of crap, i think part of it is because i dont give away my personal email to online stuff. i dont open my spam mail at all i just delete it right away. it is sad that there are those who do crap like this and use helpless people as their outlet. i honestly feel that there are still a few people who do fall to such bait that is why a lot still do try coz you never know if there is ONE who will believe them. i know a few that just asked you to call them and boom you are bombarded with a huge balance on your bill - that is why if its sound too good to be true then you can be sure that it is a complete BS. btw, you can report the site to BBB here is the link http://welcome.bbb.org they handle reports like this and you can also find a few business and or site that has history of complaints. hope the bbb will do something about that site. takecare

Thanks jairgirl. I'll do that. I have the letter here with me so maybe I might scan it along with the check and email it to them.
