McCain, Prove Me Wrong!

My response to McCain getting the Republican nomination for President of the United States has been disappointment and discouragement. Not because my guy(s) didn't win, but because I think McCain packed his spine in his ditty bag when he retired from the US Navy.
Sen. McCain has never stood up to the Democrats in anything important. All his "reaching across the aisle" has helped Democrat causes, but I can't think of one that championed a Republican cause. I've wondered if a Prs. McCain would stand up to the Democrats in Congress when it came to making good on his promise to name strict constructionist SCOTUS appointees. I also wondered if his penchant for "reaching across the aisle" would make him little more than a Democrat president with an R after his name.
I've been waiting for his choice for a running mate. I've never voted for a candidate based on the running mate before, but then again, up until now, by the time the nominations were out and the conventions were over, I knew who I was going to vote for.
I decided I would wait until we knew his VP choice because it would tell me a lot about his decisions as president. After all, it is really the first major decision made in a president's admininstration.
What I wanted to see was McCain pulling out his old, dusty ditty bag to retrieve that spine.
So McCain, prove me wrong! You are off to a great start. Choosing Gov. Sarah Palin shows the kind of spine I was hoping to see. In naming her as the running mate, he really put the other parties on notice... while at the same time putting the riff raff of the Republican Party on notice (which I don't consider a bad thing at all).
From the moment her name was mentioned as the VP nominee, the incompetent press and the left went balistic. Feminist groups have set their issues back 20 years, using the same sexist slurrs against Palin that they have feigned indignation over for decades. The incompetent press has been overly blatant in their bias against her and the Republicans in their "coverage". As heinous as it is to go after a teenage daughter of a candidate, it's only going to get muddier, sleazier and more pathetic as November approaches.
Left leaning pundits are already speculating about when McCain will drop Palin and find a more "acceptable" running mate (read, one that won't threaten the Democrats' notion that the first female VP has to be a Liberal Democrat).
I haven't heard or seen any real indication or hint that McCain considers his choice a mistake. In fact, so far, he has said he knew about Bristol's pregnancy and the DUI her husband got decades ago (before they even got married) and the other "skeletons" the left has chosen as talking points (either real or hallucinated).
So McCain, this is your big chance to prove to the country that your spine has grown back, and there is a reason to look forwards to a McCain Administration. Show us all that you can stand up to, and against the incompetent press, the left and most importantly, the Senate Democrats. Do that, and you have my support.
McCAIN, PROVE ME WRONG!!!
(((btw there are still questions I have for McCain, and I hope he answers them before November))))

Funny how every time a hyphen appeared after his name, it was on Democrat leaning legislation.

McCain definitely is inclined more to the liberal side than I'd like, but his giving a fine conservative like Gov. Palin a boost in her career and thus a chance in the future of even being President makes me want to vote for him.

I think all of the criticism of the McCain/Palin ticket is coming out of the fear by others that this IS a good combination and that they can and will make monumental changes in our government and our country. It's easier to talk about Bristol's pregnancy, the baby's Downs Syndrome, Todd's DUI over 20 years ago, Sarah's fishing without a license ticket...and the list goes on...

Yup, it's much easier for them to face those things than the prospect of the first woman VP being a Conservative Republican. :~D
