I used to keep a diary. I stopped a few years back. I would write quite regularly. Then, as every guy in Singapore has to serve in the army for a couple of years, I stopped when I had to serve in the army and when I finished serving, I just didn't continue writing.

Serving in th army meant I had to share a bunk with a few other people. While at home I could probably get away with staying up late at night to write a diary, I couldn't just stay up and write with the lights on when 7 other people need to sleep. Plus there's the privcay issue of keeping a diary when you are sharing a bunk with 7 other people you don't know. So I just stopped, and then once I stopped, just didn't feel the urge to write. I did make a few half-hearted attmepts to continue after I finished serving, but those didn't really last long.

Good for you if you keep one. When I was younger, I tried keeping one but then I stopped because I cannot sustain. I was only good at the start but later I forgot about updating it so I did not attempt to maintain one anymore. These days maintaining a diary is almost impossible for me. I don't have the luxury of time. I'm busy with mylotting aside from my regular job and my jobs as wife and a mother too. Twenty-four hours is not even enough for me so maintaining a diary is not possible at all.

I have always bought a diary for myself too over the years since I was a teenager. Some years, the diaries are completely full, and other years, I only wrote sporadically. I found that when times were happy, I rarely wrote anything down. When times were hard and I was confused, I always turned to my diary to work out my feelings. Now I keep a blog that is kind of like my online diary.

I had the same problem every time I started to write a diary.. The first few days I would be very motivated, but then the motivation just fled away.. It's a very interesting habit, but not for me :P

i faced the same problem as you, maybe i don't trust a book that is filled by my thoughts lying about. i was really afraid that my parents or my family will know about some of my secrets without me being the one telling them. and some secrets are mean to be kept under the lid. so maybe that why i can never fill up my dairy with the truest thought i had.

..you know like i mention earlier.., i can't even write in my own diaries the deepest secret i have.. only thoughts and events in a day to day living.. .. i think i'm not ready to have a diary, coa i have this impressions that to have a diary, there's no room for secret. it should serve as our bestfriend who always listen.. ...have a good day..
