Do We Really Need More Lawyers?

On the Democratic side, Barack Obama got out of Harvard Law School, worked for a firm, offered his legal expertise as a community organizer and went into politics. Joe Biden graduated from law school and almost immediately ran for office. In the Democratic primary, winner Obama, runner-up Hillary Clinton and third-place finisher John Edwards were all lawyers. In 2004, both Democratic nominees, John Kerry and Edwards, were lawyers. Al Gore, who ran in 2000, left law school without a degree and went into politics. His running mate, Joe Lieberman, was a Yale-trained lawyer. Mike Dukakis, the 1988 Democratic presidential nominee, was a Harvard trained lawyer and ran with lawyer Lloyd Bentsen. In fact, every Democratic presidential nominee for president and vice president in the last seven elections except Gore who dropped out of law school to run for Congress has been a lawyer. So what is my problem with lawyer, while except for the most part they are slime balls, lawyers do not run companies, defend the country, lead people, build things, grow food or create capital. Lawyers have destoried more than they have created, maybe that is why Democrats like them so much. If you want change so much vote McCain/Palin not for another team of lawyers.

Compare this to the fact that the last Republican who was a lawyer who was president or Vice President was Gerald Ford. The other interesting fact about this years election is it is the first time in a long time that a major party does not have some military experience on the ticket. Neither Senator Obama nor Senator Biden have any military experience. I believe the last time was before FDE (He had a military connection as Sect of the Navy)

I could do without ever seeing another lawyer politician. A Wal-Mart stocker makes more of a difference to our lives than a lawyer will ever do.

Q. What's the difference in a sludge-sucking bottom feeder and a lawyer? A. One of them is a person. No we certainly don't need any more lawyers in our nation's government. I'd much rather have a soccer mom be president than a lawyer.

Q. Do you know how both fish and politicans get in trouble. A. They open their mouths. :-)

Wow... those comments have been well researched. Out of the last 43 presidents we have had 25 that were lawyers. With any luck we will have 26 very soon. On a more serious note, lawyers often take on the task of law becuase they like to see all sides of an issue and then work toward some form of resolution. Further, may I ask why anyone, who wants to vote for change would give the presidency back to the party that has created such a mess as the "R"s have. The following quote has been attibuted to both Einstein and Benjamin Franklin and it isn't clear who first said it but it still rings very true. "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results." Now, tell me why would we elect the republicans again and expect anything other than we have had in the last eight years.

Assuming all republicans are the same is like saying 45% of the country are identical to each other mentally and emotionally. 41% are all identical to each other mentally and emotionally. Then there is approximately 14% which are outcasts that don't think or act like anyone else. The whole "More of the same" crap was inevitable. It could have been Ron Paul who was nominated and democrats still would have said the same thing.
