How do we become selfish in life? In my family I'm an only child and feel that my selfishness comes from never needing to share anything with siblings. How do we combat selfishness in our own lives to stop thinking about what only will benefit us?

It is impossible to be completeless unselfish. Selfishness is part of being human especially when you are younger. As you get older and have others that you are sloc to such as a spouse or childern you become less selfish in a way. You start looking out for what is best for them and not always yourself, but you are still promoting your own interests as they are apart of you and your world. We as humans will never be completely selfless as we will always look out for our own best interests. The only way I know to combat this is to try and treat others as we want them to treat us. At least this way you are taking others into consideration when making your choices in life.

I didn't think it was possible to be completely unselfish...glad to hear that.
