On Palin and Obama...
what if the shoe were on the other foot? What if instead of Palin's daughter, it were one of Obama's children in the pregnancy situation?
Do myLotters think that it would be ok as it is for Palin?
I don't think so :-(
The world would stop as we know it...there would be a calapse of everything Obama!!
This crap annoys me to no end.
And the comments made by Obama on this issue..."he will fire anyone on his staff who talks about Palin's daughter!! Did you see that? Did you hear that?
What a man, what a candidate, what a man!!
Go OBAMA, RAH, RAH, RAH!!

Well there is a problem with this post because it will never be Obama's daughter because he would make her get an abortion! But lets say he changed his mind and decided a baby isnt a mistake, and allowed her to keep it...there would probably be nothing about it at all, it would be at the same level as no one caring he is a Muslim.

Hi 2minicoopers,
thank you for your response. I will respectfully agree to disagree with you.
Why would you say that? "Make her get an abortion, he is Muslim"
This from http://en.wikipedia.org
Obama was not raised in a religious household, his father was raised a Muslim but was a confirmed atheist. Obama is a Christian. In 2008 polls have shown that some Americans believe INCORRECTLY that he is a Muslim or was raised as a Muslim. In his book, "The Audacity of Hope" he writes that he was not raised in a religious household...his parents were non-practicing Methodists and Baptists.
On the abortion issue: Chicago, Ill does have laws that prevent a minor from obtaining an abortion without parental consent or notice, unlike New Jersey, but still, I, personally don't think that he would "make" his daughter do something as drastic as an abortion without first discussing with her the options at great length. I just do not see him as that type of person.

Well here is obama saying BABIES ARE A PUNISHMENT! Just like STD's are a punishment. www.youtube.com/watch?v=nNbaig-D5pk Great man huh! Oh and you'll love this one www.youtube.com/watch?v=QPZCXcTwZPY
Do you believe everything a politian tells you whether in a book or an interview? If you were muslim running for the Presidency of a mostly Christian Nation wouldn't you be Christian too? Muslim religion is a CULTURE not a RELIGION...once you are muslim you do not convert and if you do then you are a traitor. So either we can have a Muslim running the country and hand us over to the terrorists or a muslim traitor who will get us all blown up! Check this video out where the leader of Lybia calls OBAMA A MUSLIM and talks about how he hopes he is lying about being a christian so he doesn't have the fate of Kennedy. Enjoy...

"Do myLotters think that it would be ok as it is for Palin?"
Have you read the posts on this forum? Many of the liberals here, especially women, have been ripping her apart over what happened with her daughter. They are using her daughter as their new poster child for why "abstinence only" education doesn't work. Obama would definitely take some heat if he had a teenage daughter that got pregnant, but it wouldn't even be remotely close to the way people and the media have treated Palin.
On a side note I agree that Obama handled it excellently and like a true gentleman. Doesn't change the fact that I'm voting for McCain/Palin, but I have more respect for him than I used to.

Hi Taskr36, thank you for your response. I actually checked here for Palin posts and could not find them :-( I am happy that you have some respect for Obama, may the best team win!
On women ripping Palin apart over her daughter: The women who are doing the "ripping" should really get a reality check...this situation could happen to anyone and the issue of abstinence education, I think it works for some and not for others, just like everything else...there is always a negative and a positive side to everything. But I do agree to diagree with you that the "heat wouldn't be remotely close to the way Palin is being treated by the media"...
Let's be real, he's black, she's not...end of story!! I don't think the heat on Obama could even compare to anything against Palin. It is a race thing!!

Why would it be any different?A candidates daughter is a candidates daughter. Off limits, untouchable, and way out of line. I have to commend Sen. Obama on his demeanor in the issue. I'm not voting for him, but it was the right thing to do and the right way to handle it. Now I just wish people in here and the blogs would do the same.

I did just read it. I'm not sure what your trying to say, because of race, his daughter would be treated differently? I can't understand how race comes in to this at all.
the bottom line is it would be wrong whether it was Palin's daughter, Obama's daughter, Mcain's daughter or any child of a candidate. To me it's an untouchable issue and has no business in the campaign or the media.

I don't think it would have been handled any differently if it had been Obama's daughter instead of Palin's. I also feel that Obama had no choice to respond as he did - otherwise, he would have lost votes. I believe the problem, however, is that the stuff that was circulated on the internet was done so by Obama supporters and not his staff - he can't fire his supporters!

Hi Newtondak, Thank you for your response.
I will respectfully agree to disagree with you--Obama is half African American, here is the double standard...What's good for the goose, is NOT also good for the gander! It just doesn't work like that!
I work with the public and I see the racism every single day...we find people jobs and/or provide training or continuing education, Caucasians normally get all the breaks including the $10 and above hourly wage while the rest of us get the minimum wage jobs...it's sad, very sad, but it is what it is :-(

I read your original post as being a discussion of whether the media/politicians would have treated the announcement of a pregnant daughter differently had it been Obama's daughter. Because they are both running for public office, I don't think it would have been any different.
Are you now saying that you think it would have been treated differently if it had been Obama's daughter because of his race?
