I read that the WTA is going to have even more coaching at all the WTA events except slams. I am very upset about this. Tennis is(was) just about the only sport where once play started the competitor was on their on to win or lose by their physical abilities and mental abilities to figure out what would work against their opponent. Now they can get a coach to come and tell them how to win and don't have to have a brain at all. This is just terrible for the sport and will make it like all the other sports. I guess next they will have substitions.

My original post was about a year ago. Since then oncourt coaching in the WTA has expanded from a few trials to being allowed at changeovers and during injury time outs at most WTA tournaments other than Grand Slams. As I said, I do not approve. I think it should have stayed one player against one player and not a player and their coach against the other player and their coach. Now WTA tennis is more like all the other sports where the coaching during play can have a bigger effect than the talents and mental abilities of the players.
