The Terry family of Portland, Oregon had to pop their eyes back into their head after they got a glance at their cell phone bill - $$19,370!!!! According to this article http://www.kptv.com/money/17390103/detail.html son headed north to Vancouver, Canada, and used a laptop with an AirCard to send photos and e-mails back home. The bill showed he used the service 21 times, but because he was out of the country, the activity added up to thousands of dollars in charges. I could not even imagine! What is the largest cell phone bill you've ever received? Any other billing horror stories?

That is insane. I think people really do need to be more aware of how much it costs to use certain cell phone services especially when they go out of the country. I think the highest cell phone bill we've ever had was a few hundred dollars and that was because we somehow managed to download some things onto our phone and leave them there and I used to do a lot of texting and because I had a small texting plan, I went over and that sent our bill up as well.

I'm currently using a prepaid phone that's why i don't encounter this type of problem. It's something i'm afraid that would happen to me if i use a postpaid phone that's why i'm currently using the prepaid one.. well, the only problem i have with prepaid is that there are times when i don't have any load and i really need to contact a certain person.. it's a good thing that there are available e-loads almost everywhere.. :)

I have never had a bill that was more than a $100. My aunt recently got a phone bill for over $1900 because her daughter was using it to access the internet and she did not have a data plan. She tried to get out of the bill, but of course she did not.

I have never had such shocks when receiving bills, although credit card bills can sometimes give me heart attacks. I used to have $30-$40 phone bills, but I switched plans to a budget one. Now I'm paying less than $15 each month. I don't use my phone much, I text most of the time.

Now that would freak me out! I have gotten cell phone bills for well over 500 on a few occassions. Metro Atlanta now has a no contract, limited coverag, unlimited minutes, unlimited long distance, unlimited internet, and unlimited text for 50 dollars a month. So I really don't use my other phone unless I am traveling. Both of the bills combined is 90 dollars a month which is far better than 800.
