The history of asthma...

Does anybody know how long asthma has been around for and if for a long time what medications were used? I've had asthma all my life and I can imagine how scary it must have been for kids a hundred years ago if they didn't have anything to help them. Or is it a recent thing because people today are so obsessed with cleanliness that some people have lost their intollerance to things that trigger their asthma.

i am sure it has been around for awhile. i am guessing that it started with the introduction of the mid 1800's when machinery started being used in everyday life.
