there are people who mentions that what is past is already in the past, there is no point remembering them. however, there are people who said that certain things are worth keeping in our hearts, like for example, real life stories, artefacts, great people, etc. these 2 mindsets often contridicts. so what is the link between these two 'contridicting' ideas? which opinion should we put closer to our hearts?

Many times I have thought to myself that the past should be erased and that's why I didn't like to study my History subjects before. I thought too that what is done can never be undone, as what my friend told me. But when I entered college, I realized that my past was very important for my future. My high grades in high school was one of the reasons why I study college for free. My past experiences were also helpful to me in times of problems in life. My view of the past was changed and I believe that the past is very important for the future.

you mentioned "and i believe that the ppast is very important for the future". in which, the past affects the future. however, there are negative past. so are we going to let the negative past affects our future (bear in mind that it is difficult to totally forget about the whole matter. and that we will tend to remember it again if we see something similar happening)?

There is no negative past because everything that a person experiences(good or bad), he/she learns from them and applies them for their future problems.
