Have you ever gone round to another person's home, a friend, partner, work colleague or even for a night of unbridled passion and you have broken something or you've caused an accident like knocking a glass over, or spilling something or caused a mess? How embarrassed were you and did you try and cover it up if the other person didn't see or hasn't seen what you have done? When I was visiting a friends home when I was in my teens I went to use the toilet and you know those cisterns that are high up and you have to pull the chain, well I pulled the chain and I must have pulled too hard because the chain came off in my hand I couldn't work out how to put it back on again, So I had no choice but red faced had to go downstairs and explain what I had done, I was mortified! So have you got any funny stories or anecdotes from causing accidents, your clumsiness, or spillages in someone else's home?

Hi Wolfie34, yes, I once had such accident like that. Well, we were with friends visiting our colleague to have a sauna and small evening party. We made fire in sauna and one of us time to time went to the sauna to check out temperature and fire. And when I went, the door accidently shut down and ther was so called English lock which gets closed when the door is shut. I paid no attention to that and added some firewood to the stove because it was still not hot enough in the sauna. Then I tried to open the door and get out but I faied. I just couldn't manage to open the lock. And when I was putting firewood into stove some smoke got out there and it was hard to breath normally. So I knocked the door and the window to call somebody to open the door and I also cried but it was not loud enough for the others to hear. And I was already missing oxigen. I didn't like an idea to pass out because of lack of oxigen and lie there until somebody finds me. So I tried the door with my hands how strong it is and then knocked it out with my hands. The lock happened to be the weakes part of the door and got spoiled. So I came back to the others and they we wondering why I was absent for so long time. I just explaned what happened and everybody was laughing including the girl who was owner of the sauna. She said that I just was not smart enough to manage the lock :-) It happened some years ago but even now it makes fun when we remember this event. But it was not so much fun to sit in the room with a lot of smoke I can say.

That is actually quite frightening, because what if you hadn't been able to get the lock open, you could have suffocated in there! Thank you for sharing, appreciated and I am pleased you lived to tell the tale!

thank you Wolfie, I was really lucky that time the lock was not so strong. Otherwise it could be "difficult" for me to tell this story :-)

LOL! That's funny! Since I hardly visit, I have not broken up any body's home. However, I had my things destroyed by a few brats belonging to my relatives. One destroyed my prized earrings, and another almost broke the PVC pipe. I do feel terrified about visiting kids. Luckily, my relatives got angry with me recently and stopped visiting. If only they know how relieved I feel!! Cheers and happy mylotting

Nice incident there, come to think of it, bro. I would say you are in a moment of 'truly tested', , LOL. As for me, I have had one very embarrassing experience before. Last time, I used to work as a mobile technician. Meaning that I fixed cables in homes and stuff like that. And one day while I was on an assignment, I knocked on this person's home and when the door was opened, there was this man, shirtless with just a bermuda on him. That was alright, because he was a guy just like me, right. So hear me out. Then I went on to fix the cable for him and after around 10 minutes or so, up came this woman with just a towel and was so short that I could see errrr, bits of her flesh at the back. Because she went down to pick up something and I could see it practically since she was in front of me. And her boyfriend or husband or partner (not sure which) was just so blatantly straight-faced and went back to his room. I think I was in the 'midst' of something going, or something ending or whatever, ha!! I quickly finished off my cabling, and went back to other assignments. He was billed through my company listing so I didn't even have to collect payment and left. What a real embarrassing moment for me!

Hi Wolfie, The only thing I ever remember breaking at someones house was just over fifteen years ago on my thirtieth birthday, we had all been on a girls night out and I was slightly worse for wear and I knew my house had a number nine in it (39) Well I made it to my door and then in my stupor decided I was gonna go to a friends house for a cup of tea instead, she lived at 19 on route I passed 29 it was the only house down the road with dogs too so I staggered up their path and truipped and broke one of the childrens scooters made the dogs bark and woke the house up, they took me to my friends at 19 and I sat on her kitchen stool and broke it. Too out of it to car tha night but very embarrassed the folloowing morning whenI had o eat humble pie and apologise and also offered to repair damage LOL. Ellie :D

I can't think of one at the moment! But I did broken a lot in my own home which is pretty normal I reckon, like cups, plates and etc. And here is the funny one, I was cleaning my glasses and I clean it with scotch brite and dumb a$$ me now couldn't see anything properly. I'm sure I've learned the lesson for that. Thanks

I always well behave when I make a visit the houses.I never have done any damage to anything as far as I can remember. But when I was in the college I just broke the cooling glasses I borrowed from my friend when I tried to jump stylishly in to a boat.I felt very jittery to face that friend. And when I met him and apologized sheepishly he just gave me a shock by brushing off the incident very casually. That is one of the incidents that is etched in my mind.

I don't think any of us are exempt from these sorts of accidents, wolfie! The only thing I can remember breaking happened when I was a girl. I was spending the night at a friends house and we had to wash the dinner dishes. I chose washing because it's what I like best. A glass slipped out of my hand and broke which made me feel bad, but my friend's mother consoled me by saying that she was glad I had not cut myself on the glass. It's a different story in my own home. I can't tell you how many things I've broken over the years. Just a little over a week ago I dropped my water bottle as I was taking it from the fridge. What a mess that was to clean up!
