Should I change course or not?

Hi! I'm currently in my last year as BS Occupational Therapy. But the dilemma is this. 1. I can't see myself as an OT practitioner in the future 2. I'm not happy with my course, but I'm already in my senior year. 3. If I transfer and shift course, I may risk my time, my parents' money, and my effort for it. Any thoughts?

Hmm.. Where are you taking up BS OT? :) My friend is taking up PT at UST. You'd know that school if you're from the Philippines. I know someone who's taking up OT too but we aren't really close. I saw them last week during their fair in school and they looked like they're enjoying what they're doing. You know, I have this friend who's in his senior year, taking up Commerce. Then he shifted to BS Microbiology then to BS Psychology. So he's like back to square one. I guess if you're really determined, whatever's bothering you won't bug you anymore later when you finally get what you want and you excel in it. Think carefully first. Maybe you can just finish that course and take another. Why not do that? But if I were in your place, I'd finish the course. I am in my third year taking up BS Microbiology. I just learned to enjoy the course and decided to finish it. I don't want to waste time and all my efforts. I want to graduate on time.

I'm taking up BS OT at UP-Manila. Currently in my 4th and last year. The funny thing is, I enjoyed it during the theoretical-classroom years, then didn't liked it during internship. It's really tragic for me, my classmates, parents, teachers.. considering that I'm doing well naman.

Tragic because when I tell others I'm planning to transfer to La Salle, they'd say "Sayang naman" or "sayang" (regretting). Everyone tells the same word/s! I dunno, maybe it's just a phase in life and everybody will move on whatever decision I make.

Ouch. Why tragic? Hm. About my friend though, he said he shifted because he wants to go to med school. @_@

I think this problem is decided how much you dislike it. If you just don't like it slightly, you can keep on doing. But if you hate it so much, maybe you should change your course as soon as possible. Nobody can have passion at work he dislike and such act is not responsible for both the persons you service and yourself. Now, I have a job which I didn't like it at all and I can't feel my existence and want to quit as soon as possible. However, above mentioned statements are just my own idea, so you should make up your minds.

I can keep going but deep inside I'm not happy. It's really a dilemma about practicality versus risk-taking.

Hello. You say that you cannot see yourself as an OT practitioner in the future. What do you exactly mean by this? Does this mean that you are not doing well in the course? Or does it mean that there are few lucrative jobs for an OT practitioner in the area where you stay? I think you are very right in saying that if you transfer course right now, you're wasting time, money and effort. If you are still doing OK in the course, I suggest you stick to it and finish it at the very least. Get that piece of paper. It's what you should get after so much time and effort. Then if you're not happy with it, you can go ahead and take another course. Just my 0.2 cents. I hope it helped.

I'm doing well in the course that's why the faculty are holding me for an additional two weeks. I just can't take the internship anymore.. I've even consulted the guidance counselor and a psychologist for decision-making, and they said "it's up to you to make the decision."

i honestly think you should finish it. dont throw away all the hard work youve done. you cant reach senior year with that course if you totally dont have a thing for it. after that, you might want to really find your passion. at least, less disappointments to your parents and maybe for yourself :)
