It's Sunday Morning...WHERE is Sarah Palin?

It's Sunday morning which means in a little over an hour the Sunday morning political talk and interview shows will be starting; Face The Nation, Meet The Press, This Week and then CNN's Last Word with Wolf Blitzer. Democratic VP candidate, Senator Joe Biden is scheduled for another of his many appearances on Meet The Press. I'm not sure who is scheduled for the other shows but there's one person I know is not and that's GOP VP candidate Governor Sarah Palin. Palin has refused to take any questions at all during her campaign stops, not from the media and not from voters, as I understand it. She's not scheduled for any of the political or news shows, Sunday morning or any other day, as far as I know she hasn't even agreed to do any of the more "lightweight" programs like Leno, Letterman, Stewart, Colbert or Ellen. We've all heard that Oprah refuses to have her on, but would she have gone anyway? There is now less than two months until election day and a spokesman for the McCain campaign said he's not sure when or if Palin will start taking questions or granting interviews. He said it depended on their best interests. Come on, Sarah fanatics and McCain/Palin supporters - you complain that Democrats are reluctant to appear on Fox News and I know for a fact that if Obama or Biden did this all sorts of he11 would be raised! I'm sorry, but you've got to know that by "hiding" like this Sarah sure is giving the impression of having something TO hide. Any thoughts? Annie

Let's just face. They don't want anyone to speak to her because they know she isn't even close to being qualified for the position she accepted. There is no way she can go on Meet The Press or Face The Nation and answer any question intelligently. She's not ready. The only reason she was put on the Republican ticket was to try and get disaffected Hillary voters to cross over and support John McCain. However, once Democratic women get to know her and get to know what she stands for, they cannot and will not support this woman. I know where she is right now. She's holed up in some room being briefed on World affairs, economics policies and all the areas she is lacking. They know this is the big time and she is a small time player who is not ready. Lloyd

I'm also wondering why they won't let her campaign on her own.

Maybe she needs someone to hold her hand since the United States is more than a town of 10,000 or a state of less than a million people.

I just saw that she did an interview with TIME magazine but I think that was before she was named VP although I could be wrong. A lot has been said about Sarah Palin in here but we could all be wrong for all I know. Maybe the campaign just wants the element of surprise on their side for the VP debate. She could be much more capable than we think. I'm not a fan of the Republican party but be that as it may I think we could have done way worse than Palin. Romney for example or Huckabee.

Seems strange. Do you think they will even allow her to debate Biden? I suppose that is the only way the Palin supporters will learn what her stance is on the issues. It all seems very strange. My husband listens to talk radio all day, (oh by the way I have been listening to it as well, it helps me slow down while I'm in "speed zones" lol) anyway, I guess O'Reilly was complaining because he tried to get Palin on and was told she wasn't ready and won't be for a month or two. In two months it won't matter the election will be over.

I know it is all very interesting. I want to know more about her and I don't even support that side. I really like to know both of the tickets because in reality whichever one wins we are stuck with for four years. It's nice to know what can be expected out of the next administration no matter which administration that might be.

I felt like the McCain campaign had put Palin on the ticket for one single reason. Because she's a woman. But I don't think they'd be that stupid. Women don't vote for women. The vote for women's issues and Palin hasn't really been advocating those. Maybe they chose her because McCain likes her - because she's like him. Who knows. But basic human nature says it's hard to like or trust someone you don't know. They should really get her out there. I also think it's strange how the McCain campaign keeps telling the public that palin has more experience because she was major of the "second largest city in Alaska" and because as Governor she was in charge of the Alaska National guard. When CNN's Campbell Brown asked a campaign official to name one incident when she actually used her power over the national guard he couldn't so...

First, Zephyr, I think one thing they do want is for her to debate Biden so they can attack him as a bully. I don't think it will matter to the Republicans who "wins" the debate regarding the issues or even how Biden treats this "Barracuda" because they probably already have the script written for immediately after the debate ends. Did you happen to see Bill Maher's show the other night? One of his best lines was something like, "Look out Sarah Barracuda, Joey the Shark is ready for you!" When I listen to right wing talk radio while driving I have to be careful because sometimes I get so pi$$ed I find myself really stomping on the gas pedal...lol! Hey, it's strange but nice to have something to give O'Reilly kudos for. So she won't be ready for a month or two - un-freaking-believable. Now, to Alexx08, so the "second largest city in Alaska" only has a population of about 5000? As I posted before, my town is twice as big, at least, and our parttime mayor has another fulltime job. I heard that about CNN's Campbell Brown asking a campaign official to name one incident when she actually used her power over the national guard and that because of her unfair treatment McCain canceled his scheduled appearance on Larry King. If this gang gets to the White House what are they going to do, take their ball and go home if things don't go their way? Annie

I want to see Palin interviews too, but then again, I'd like to see Obama in a interview. I've seen him on a few interviews but have yet to see his adoring fans in the press do anything but lob softballs and accept even the most innane answers. What's the difference between being protected from the press and being protected by the press?

Alexx, I said I'd like to see her interviewed. and if you think the press has been hard on Obama, think about this. They did ask him about his relationship to Tony Rezko, Rev. Wright and Bill Ayers. In each case his answer was a bold faced lie. They never challenged him on the lies or brought the questions up again once the lies were confirmed. How is that not "softballs"

I don't think the media is being too soft on Obama. And he is not the one who is new to this race. It is reasonable to suggest that Palin goes out there to face the media.

Yeaaah, going, "Noooo I don't like tv. *hiss* they cannot question me!!" Gives alot of possible impressions. And if McCain wants to play his cards right he should encourage her to change her mind and go on some show soon -- but alas, I can't even say if that's what he'll do. I do really, really, -really- want to see more of her. Elsewise, I have no idea what else politics-news junkies are gonna cover lol. No really though, we've got a scant bit on her already, we really do have to see more of her to form more of a concrete opinion.

I'm with you on this one annie. I want to see more of her too. I think it would go a long way in getting more support for this ticket if she would come out and just start talking. She seems like a woman with a lot to say and I'd like to see her out there saying it and answering questions. She is doing now what irritated me with Obama in the beginning of his campaign.

I have to say I was surprised when McCain named his vice presidential pick. I had been watching CNN for about five hours or so to find out who it would be. John King and Dana Bosch were busy tracking down their source and when they finally confirmed Sarah Palin as VP candidate she was virtually unknown. Though she has little experience she seems like a decent person - standing up to corruption and all. I am however surprised that the campaign doesn't introduce her to the public more. I remember she did and interview with People Magazine but that's about it.

I may have initially agreed with you on a personal level but it seems the more I've been learning about her the less I like her. I sure don't want to seem like a disloyal female, but I never had any intention to vote for her or McCain based solely on the issues. However, I really don't like either one of them so much either. Am I the only ignorant one here? lol I have been doing a lot of research on Palin but I just found where when she was mayor the people of the city were forming a group to have her recalled? Getting so caught up with a different issue I guess that's what I get lol

I would suppose that Sarah Palin as a Christian will be getting ready for church and will be in Church this morning. So you would rather she skip church until the campaign is over? I mean is she supposed to obey man or rather anniepa rather than God? And maybe she will have to find a schedule on another day. So why worry about it now? You could not find enough dirt on her so you had to do this? Would you have asked the question about Obama and his successor? No because they are democrats and can do no wrong.

Guess what, Suspenseful, every politician or candidate here in the U.S., including flawless "Christians" like George W. Bush, have for DECADES left their Sunday morning schedules open to appear on the talk shows. If she wants to run for VP, yes she should do as others before her and others in her position now and " find a schedule on another day". Better yet, maybe she could get back on the porch if she can't run with the big dogs! "You could not find enough dirt on her so you had to do this?" Believe me, there's been enough that's come out about her already to show she's not what she seems. What do you mean, "I had to do this?" Do you think it's fine that she's under this "gag order" of sorts with her refusal, or the campaign's refusal to allow her to do interviews? "Would you have asked the question about Obama and his successor?" Do you mean "successor" or running mate? Anyway, if any Democratic candidate at this point in the campaign were hiding from the press like Palin is, it would be your side that would be throwing fits that make my "question" seem quite mild. "No because they are democrats and can do no wrong." No, that's not true at all but I think for you Palin is an anti-choice, religious right extremist so nothing else matters, SHE can do no wrong. Calling Obama "$ambo" and Hillary a "b1tch" is no doubt more than acceptable. Annie

Actually if Obama was doing this-not talking to reporters and/or voters I wouldn't vote for him. I would be left to write in a person because I would not vote for McCain. But if the conservatives feel comfortablt voting blindly that's fine by me. Although, I want to know what I can expect from the McCain/Palin adminstration since there's a 50/50 chance they could win.

If church is so important to her, than she can take the interview on another day. Bill O'Reilly even said on Friday that he is having a hard time getting to Sarah, and said that it isn't looking very good for an interview before the election. Now O'Reilly is pretty soft on republicans, he is not your normal FOX interviewer, but you know it will not be like going on Meet the Press, or 60 Minutes. I don't think you are going to see any true interview of Palin, they will require questions to be provided before the interview, and you will not see the real Sarah Palin. Why don't we treat her the same way we treat Biden, throw them out for questioning right away? Can't she handle it?

Well it took Biden a week before he did an interview so Palin's not that far off. I'm just as eager as everyone else to see her do an interview. I'm sure that she'll do just fine. There's only a rush because she's become such a popular person so fast. Nobody really cares about interviews with Biden because they just don't find him that interesting. The same thing goes for McCain to a lesser degree.

If you had taken the time to search a bit you would have found out she is going to give a first interview with Charlie Gibson. Now, would you like to make any more assumptions? Maybe she has a hangnail you could talk about. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080907/ap_on_el_pr/palin

Thanks, Zephyr, some people just don't seem to notice silly little details like how can someone search for something that doesn't yet exist! It seems like she got an "unspoken promise" from Gibson, given his remarks. Maybe he also feels that "once you know she was for the Bridge to Nowhere before she was against it, that's enough". I suppose if the new name for a serious credibility problem is "hangnail", I and others will be talking about it quite a bit in the next two months. I took my gloves off and I can't seem to find them...can you help me, Zephyr, do you know where I may have put them...lol? I sure hope the media puts theirs in the same place! Annie

I'm glad you posted that website. I just goes to show how the Republican Party can't deal with the real issues and have to go with lies and distortions. Sarah Palin and John McCain are the reason Barack Obama had to create a website just to refute their lies and distortions. http://my.barackobama.com/page/content/fightthesmearshome/ You know it's bad when you have to create a website called "Fight The Smears". It looks like everything that could be said is already said. It is my blief that Sara Palin has so many many MANY things that could come back and bite her, they don't want her to say anything about anything. If she says anything about Troopergate she could be in big trouble as the findings are supposed to be out before the election. If she says anything about a possible affair and later they come out with some proof, she is again stung. It is my blief that they want to keep her quiet so she doesn't say something someone will later catch her on... ie. Miss Congeniality.
