What Do You Use More Often, the Dctionary or Thesaurus.

We all need to look up the meaning of a word now and then. In the past the dictionary appears to have been the common source of word meanings but lately, more and more people turn to the thesaurus instead of the dictionary. I prefer using Thesaurus. How about you?

I use dictionary .com in order to quickly look up words. It automatically has the same link to thesaurus .com as well. In case I needed a different word in the same category of meaning. In fact I used dictionary .com earlier today. I find all the information I need from the Internet especially since we are in the information age. So I guess in essence I use my computer to find words I need the meaning of.

I guess through the computer you can access a dictionary or thesaurus whenever you need to look up the meaning of a word. And that you don't have any preference as both can serve your purpose. That's what counts,I suppose.

i'm definitely a huge supporter of the thesaurus. the dictionary only tells me what is the meaning of the word. by using a thesaurus, i not only will know what the word means, i will also know what are other words i can use. it's a really useful tool especially when i am writing a report. it saves me from using the same word over and over again. cheers ;p

That's why i like using the thesaurus because i have a wider choice of words and get more meanings. But of course the dictionary is quite helpful too especially if i am just looking for words commonly used everyday.

Here lately I've been using the thesaurus. easy to find more creative words to use in my writing. I usually know what I want to say, but sometimes I want to find other ways to say the same thing. That is unless you are talking about a spell check dictionary, then I use that ALL the time because I can't spell well. :-)

When i am working on my computer I tend to use the thesaurus more than a dictionary but at other times like when I am reading a book or writing a report or project document, and i just need to check if I used a word properly, I prefer to use a dictionary. I guess it can also serve as a way to check my spelling.

I prefer to use both dictionary and thesaurus. As long as I can find what I am looking I use any one of it.

That's what really counts, that you can find the word you are searching for and get the meaning. It's not really whether it is a dictionary or thesaurus which you use. I guess you have a point there too.

Maybe that woukld be a good idea. However, you can also access the thesaurus through your computer. I think aside from including more words, the thesaurus also includes some words which are not to be found in a dictionary.

I use the Dictionary most often. I usually have an Thesaurus inside the back of my Dictionary. So, I get to use the both of them. I like it this way.

That's good then because you can use both. Some say the Thesaurus includes more words than the dictionary so with both available you will be able to search for more words.
