What are your feelings towards this. My grandmother never washes on a Sunday.. How does your household deal with washing clothes on a Sunday?

I never used to wash on a Sunday either, always on a Monday but now I work Mondays I need to get what washing I can done on the Sunday sometimes if I haven't managed to do it on the Saturday. I think this probably stems back to Sunday being a day of rest but I still do rest I let the washing machine do it whereas years ago it was done by hand and was an all day job. Ellie :D

Yes, that is a great way to put it.. The washing machine does all of the work while you just rest..

Laundry is laundry, if it needs to be done then do it. Now if you skip church to do laundry there's another problem all together.

Yes, I agree. Skipping church to wash clothes, is like cutting class just to keep from learning..

Sunday has always been a day for church, visiting friends and having family time. Not for a day of work in my family. Just cooking, cleaning up after and making beds, the usual things you have to do everyday.

HI cream, We are not used also to wash our clothes every Sunday, we do it Friday and Saturday...We just believed that Sunday is for us to have lesser household chores and time for us to spend more time with the family!

You just reminded me to do some laundry. If I do laundry today I can dry it outside. I don't think it matters what day you do it. But everyone needs a day off. Maybe she has a yearning deep down inside to sit on the couch and watch football all day.

Very funny! No, she does not watch football. I hardly see her watch this sport, but she will watch basketball..

I would have time to wash them on sunday, with church and everything. Sundays is family day that is the one day that my sons and I have available to spend the whole day together and I wouldn't want to interupt that with laundry. I usualy do it on saturadys with all the other household chores.

It doesn't matter in my household what day it is, if the laundry or anything else needs to be done it is done. Whether it is Sunday or Wednesday or anyday, no matter. I know way back when I was a child laundry was always done on Sundays because it was the only day we were all home to help my mom do it. There has never been any rule or custom about doing any housework on a sunday. It needed to get done and if it meant to be done on a sunday then it was done on a sunday. So do you ever do any laundry on a sunday? Alrightly then, talk to you later my friend, Have a good mylotting day, Chris

My family has no restrictions. I don't usually wash on Sunday because when I was young the extended family got together on Sunday. We cooked and cleaned up, visited, shucked some corn or peas, talked and had a good time. There was no time for washing clothes! Some people feel that Sunday should be a day of rest. I agree, but I won't put off chores just because it's Sunday.

cream 97 hi we wash clothes whenever it is necessary, as being clean is certainly not ungodly and to heck with other peoples thought. If I want to wash clothes I will darn well wash them as its nobody's business but my own.

I wash clothes on any day of the week, is it because sunday is the sabbath? I get a kick out of that because biblically the sabbath is saturday. If not then I was just wondering what the reason could be, thats the only thing I could think of.

Thats ususally the day that I wash on. I am so busy on all other days of the week. This is typically the only day that I have time to do it. My family has a whole host of superstitions, but this is not one of them, thankfully.

Is there a reason why your grandma never washes clothes on a Sunday? Coz I haven't heard of any superstitions like this before. To answer your question, our clothes are washed daily in my place..

If I want to wash I will wash whether its sunday or not,but years ago I know that there was never any washing done on a sunday,in fact there was never very much at all done on a sunday, but that the way that life was, they went to church in the morning and the kids went to sunday school and that apart from having sunday dinner was their lot.

I wash clothes on Sundays alot to get ready for the new week. My husband usually has me wash his work clothes on Sundays. It is not forbidden to wash clothes in my house on Sundays in fact it is almost a ritual.

Its is not forbidden but my parrents always keep working and barely even take breaks and it annoys me as much as it annoys my parrents because they think it is too much to do. I allways tell them to settle down a bit but they dont want to. Oh well it is there desicions but i allways wanna help them if needed so therefor i respect them for allways being a hard worker.

Why is it forbidden to do laundry on Sunday? Is it because of religion? In my family, we always wash clothes on Sunday. My mom actually washes clothes every day. But for me, it depends on the situation. I normally wash the clothes on Saturday or Sunday.

It's not forbidden, but when I was young it was discouraged. In fact, I remember hearing a sermon in church when I was a child that discouraged it, especially if you hung your clothes on the line outside to dry. Now we wash when we need to according to what is most convenient.
