MyLot Improvement Suggestions

I have a few things I would LOVE to see on myLot. Here is my list (post yours!) 1. Editing for captions of photos once we upload them 2. A way to categorize our own discussions (or others). Several per discussion would be great, although 18+ would have to override all others. 3. A much more intellectual section, where politics, lyrics, artwork, literature, etc can be discussed ONLY on an in-depth level. This may, or may not, pay more, but would not pay anything for people who can only post basic answers. 4. POSSIBLY some sort of Guild system. Not where just anyone can create guilds. Something that would allow users with certain important things in common to connect in a more concrete way. This one would (like #3) take A LOT of thought and fore-planning.

I think we have categories in terms of searching... but categoRIZING we don't have, and I'd love it! I'd likely not use the spell checker BUT I really think it would be an incredibly useful tool on the whole (although I think you can set your browser to do it for you).

I think a spell checker and a grammar check would be an amazing improvement, as many mylotters seem to have extreme difficulties with the simplest of english sentences.

...threads to be categorized.. "politics" "religion" "spirituality" "cooking" etc.. "science vs religion" "hollywood" ..whatever.. I think it would be more interesting, to be able to keep tabs on the topics one is most interested in..

This is a very sensible suggestion (and is the way that Yahoo does it, of course). One could still tag, which would allow a discussion to be found by at least two methods. This would be similar to the way that Flickr, for example, organises photos.

I would like to see a way to get to your responses and comments in a discussion quicker. I spend a lot of time going through the discussions I have responded to to find my response or comment so I can see if someone else has posted on my comment or response. Sometimes if the discussion gets real large this can take forever! I try and use the dates as to how long ago the posts were made and either jump ahead several screens or jump to the end and work my way backward to help me but sometimes this is not enough.

Categories would be great. My suggestions is 1. Delete my discussions (as a miskake I started 2 discussions with same topic) and responses to other discussions if I write something I regret. 2. Be able to delete my uploaded pictures. Otherwise: Keep up the good work mylot !

Catagories are called "LIST" but I'd like a way to remove uploaded pics.

Filtering/Sorting Responses in a Discussion: I would like to see ways of filtering or sorting the responses in a discussion: 1) Sort - By latest activity (comments as well as responses) 2) Sort - By rating (+/- scores given). I know that this total is not displayed at present. All one sees is that one has already rated a response/comment and it doesn't even remind one whether one rated it a - or a +! 3) Filter - In one's own discussions, at least, by responses/comments not read or not rated All of these would greatly assist the efficiency of managing discussions and allow one to be alert to new additions to the discussion.

Making Comments on Responses: At the moment, when making a comment to a response that is not on page 1, one is returned to the first page, not the page one was working on. This is particularly annoying when managing one's own discussions, since one needs to acknowledge responses as they come in on a daily basis. I would like to see ways of filtering, which would assist the exercise, but that merits another response heading.

Starting a New Discussion: We are encouraged in the guidelines to check first to see if there are similar discussions (as there very often are). Since the Search bar is right at the top (and, on my browser, partially covered by the alert box!) it is not automatic to check. It would be of much more use if, on entering the discussion title/topic, one were shown a list of similar discussions. Again, there is no Cancel button available, so once one starts entering a discussion, the only way out is to use the Back button on the browser!
