I grew up hearing lunch called dinner and the last meal of the day was supper. Actually Sundays were the only days we had "dinner" which was right after Church. Every other day the mid day meal is lunch. But the last meal of the day was always called supper. So in your family what are your meals called?

Wel, we have breakfast, lunch and dinner. But dinner is also a synonym for supper, so I thought. But we more commonly call the last meal dinner.

Again with meals I'm weird - I call the last meal of the day both dinner and supper just depends on my mood or something, not sure why. I'll even call it both in the same day - split personality or something. Now big holidays are always dinner Christmas Dinner, Easter Dinner, Thanksgiving Dinner.

I grew up with breakfast, lunch and dinner although I often heard my grandmother refer to lunch as dinner and dinner as supper. I don't think I have ever called the last meal of the day supper.

For the meal that's between 12 noon to 2pm we call it Lunch. Between 6pm to 8pm we the meal dinner. Supper is usually around 10pm - 12 midnight. But for my husband and me, we only have two meals a day and sometimes only one. So this is what we call our meals : Sometimes we have our meals like that: breakfast + lunch = brunch (we have it around 1pm) lunch + dinner = dinch or luncher (we have it around 4pm) breakfast + lunch + dinner = brunchner (only one meal we have for the day) I know this sounds funny....but we made it up..... We don't take breakfast.

We have breakfast lunch and dinner in my house. Supper just seems like too fancy of a word for my family to use.

In my house, the terms dinner and supper to describe the last meal of the day are used interchangeably. Sometimes I will say supper but I usually rely on dinner to describe the last meal of the day. Some of my family members say supper most of the time, sometimes they do say dinner. I think it just depends on what word comes to mind when they're thinking about what to make.

The midday meal for my family is always lunch. The evening meals switch off between dinner and supper. There's no real reason why.

In our house..breakfast is breakfast, lunch is lunch, and dinner is also supper and none of the above is ever eaten at a certain time. Just whenever we are hungry or have time.

I grew up where lunch was dinner and dinner was supper too. We didn't know anything about lunch, and if you ordered a soda from an ice cream parlor you got ice cream in it. It took me a long time to get used to the idea that when you order a soda here in the west it is just pop.

I grew up calling the mid day meal lunch. We always called the evening meal both. Once in a while my family would call it supper. They would sort of switch off. It was never a formal meal so it really didn't matter. As I got older I think we started calling it dinner. I really can't remember because the one thing I do remember about that meal was all the fighting. It was a horrible time! My parents always fought and sitting around the table was very stressful and miserable so that was not a happy time and actually I dreaded coming to the table so I kind of blocked it out I think.

Growing up, it was breakfast, dinner, and supper. When I got married, and had kids, somewhere along the way it became breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I will some times say supper, if we are eating late.....like after a get together or a movie or something like that. Wanna go have a little supper before we head home?

Dinner is how it is called in here, but locally we call it "hapunan". Traditionally, dinner will be taken between 6pm to 7pm but due to some adjustment in lifestyles of most people here, dinner is extended until 10pm.
