Food Allergies..tartare sauce

I haven't heard of anyone being allergic to tartar sauce, but people are allergic to all kinds of things. Isn't tartar sauce just mayo, onion, lemon juice and pickles?

Is there a chance that it was the MSG in the tartar sauce. My entire family are allergic to MSG Monosodium Glutamate. If I have anything with MSG in it, I will be in the ER within the hour. Allergies to foods and additives are a funny thing. You can develope an allergy all at once. YOu do not have to be alleric to it from birth. I hope your friend finds out what it was she was allergic too because allergies to food can kill you.

no I have never heard of that before, maybe the mayanaise was no good, or something else? Maybe it wasn't the tartar sauce but something else on the plate as well.

I've never tried tartare sauce as condiment for my fried food. I guess it was the egg that caused the allergy of your friend. I read that some people are allergic to eggs and this sauce have eggs in it. It said that it's life threatening if they consume this product.

It was probably a reaction to whatever they made the sauce with. Your friend could have been alergic to gerkins, or capers or an other ingredient the restaurant used in making it... I hope your friend is well again. :-)

Hi Lilaclady, I have never heard of tartare sauce gving an allegic reaction but it may have been an ingredient that particular restaurant put in. If no one else had fish, could if have been the fish? I do hope your friend is alright. I can't eat raw onion in anything as it gives me a headache. Ellie :D

Never happened to me or anyone I know, before. Does this person have an allergy to dairy, or maybe something else that the sauce might have contained? A good idea would be to go to the restaurant, and get a list of ingredients so your friend will know exactly what was in that sauce, so that the source of the alergy may be discovered.

Not to tartar sauce. It may have been something that was in it, like the picles, mayo, which is made from eggs or something else. I hope your friend is alright now.
