Is there a heaven or hell?

This very question bothers me since my childhood years and until right now. My grandparents told me what is heaven, what makes one go to there and who lives there. Then there's hell, a place where a devil resides and where the souls of people who committed bad things dwell. Do you believe in these after after-life dwelling places?
