The tragedy that is Sierra...

Since a young age, I had fooled around with computers. My very first was an APPLE II/e with dual floppy drive and VGA screen. Man was those the days! The one game I must have played to bits, must have been Kings Quest. I had all the versions and it was brilliant! Then, with the introduction of IBM into the desktop market with the 386, 486 etc, I couldn't get enough of Space Quest, Hero's Quest and all the other similar games brought out by Sierra. Sierra was my all time favorite game's house and to see it degenerate over the years to such a bad place now, really breaks my heart. Now, they try to hang on to the market with only a few titles just barely scraping through as playable. I did enjoy the first installment of Empire earth, even though it's graphics was hollow and box shaped with unimajinative textures that didn't do a proper job of portraying depth or texture. I never bothered with Empire Earth II, so I don't know what it was like. The other day, while snooping around for some "Time/Out" gaming to break away from the more hectic games I play such as Crysis, Hellgate and so forth, I stumbled on Empire Earth III. Hmmm...I thaught...must have some good improvements. As I checked the back of the box, my mouth started watering as they explained a "persistent earth" whereby you can build your empire instead of just flipping from one scenario to the next. Man was this game a let down. All they did, was to combine the recipes of Microsoft's Rising Nations and Blizzars Warcraft, ending up with a childish version of the two with no real challenge to the game. I just could not believe that they had made such a huge step backward with this game... It seems that no matter how hard they try, they had theyre glory years...but now... R.I.P. SIERRA....I will remember you fondly, but never again shall I itch to see that mountainous logo, gracing my screen...

I am completely lost by this discussion but thought it deserved a response due to the thought and time put into it. I'm sorry that this happened to you. good luck with the gaming in the future.
