Do you feel kill shelters should recieve government funding?

I personally am completely against kill shelters. It is so sad that an innocent animal is killed simply for the fact the the facility has run out of room. In the case of a facility running out of room, they should contact nearby shelters to replace the animal instead of killing them. When we adopted our pup Dozer he was from a non-killing shelter. It was getting ready to close and all the animals were getting sent to a kill shelter. My heart just dropped when I heard that. We adopted Dozer that very day. If we would have had the room we probably would have taken all of his brothers too, but we didn't have the room. I don't think that kill shelters should recieve government funding to continue their operations. I never donate money to these types of shelters. So do you think government funding should be provided to kill shelters? What is your opinion on kill shelters? Feel free to share your thoughts. Thanks.

Yes they should they are doing a job after all however I think they need to get a few more laws on who can or cant have a dog to try and help save the amount that get dumped and require rehoming. We just got a rescue dog they have a no kill policy but its sad to see animals that had been there years because they are too old and people dont want them afterall a kennel is not the nicest place for a dog to live the rest of its life, so they get fed but thats about it they often are too busy to exercise them or give them much human contact I guess its better to ask whats the better option a life of being stuck in a cage or being humanly killed an animal requires a quality life aswell as a long one surely!

I can agree with you. Animals that are old, or that are unsuitable to be adopted do deserve better, and in some cases humane killing is necessary. I just disagree with killing because of over population.

So do I its sad anyone can breed dogs in the UK and sell them to just anyone who turns up with enough cash and often these people have no idea or no support in helping deal with the new addition hence they get dumped. Its not easy having a dog ours only came home wed and its been difficult but because we have the support we can cope

Yes, they should recieve funding. It's not their fault that they HAVE to kill the dogs. Why are the dogs there in the first place? Irresponsible breeding and irresponsible pet owners. Reputable breeders take their dogs back and rehome them if the owner cannot keep them- backyard breeders/pet shops aren't like that- and the dogs end up in the shelter. Shelters don't kill dogs for fun- they do it because they're massivly overloaded with dogs and have no space, and/or the dogs temperament/health is so bad that they don't feel they are suitable for another home.
