I found out that I will be travelling outside the country for the first time ever. It will be a business trip, but still it is kind of exciting. I have only travelled to a few states and non west of the Mississippi River. So this is a big deal for me to travel to another country. What are some of the things that I should watch out for when travelling to another country? What was the best place you have ever travelled to?

I'm headed north to Canada. Oh I know it is an open border (for the most part) but for someone who has never travelled, it's a whole new world. :)
I will be gone a week.

Before I got married I traveled some. I would have to say my favorite trip was when we went over to Isreal,Greece and Eygpt. My friend talked me into going so we saved up our moneyover a year and went on a tour over there. Went to the garden of gethsemane and looked at the tombs and things there. Guess What??? HE WASN"T there.
Empty. Our last night in Isreal I stood looking out the window and cried. I felt like Iwas leaving home. But I know one day I will be going to the New Jerusalem. After that we went to greece and eygpt. It is a trip everyone needs to take. Kinda brings the bible to life.

That is very cool. I always wanted to go there. Perhaps I will be able to someday. If not, like you said, we will go to the New Jerusalem.

This first trip out of your homeland will be very exciting for you. I hope that you will have a wonderful business trip and in the future return there as a tourist. It is one of your neighboring countries and so is Mexico. I hope that you visit that country one day as well. I began traveling twenty one years ago and so far my favorite countries that I have visited are Samoa, Australia, New Zealand, Belize and the Seychelles. I suggest taking a good quality travel guide book, currency for the country you are going to. The best trip I have had was in 2006 when I went to Mexico, Belize and Guatemala. I climbed the Mayan ruins, went on an exciting cave adventure and swam with nurse sharks. It was exciting and the most wonderful adventure I have ever had. Happy traveling to Canada and to more countries in the future, hopefully.

In every country there are always some unscrupulous individuals who would try to dupe you or part you from your money or other belongings so my advice would be for you to be careful and don"t trust everyone just because they seem to be friendly. Strangers who seem to be so friendly and familiar and who go out of their way offering to help you may just be too good to be true so be cautious with strangers. Also be sure your passport and ticket are always with you and always keep in mind your schedules as you might miss your plane, train or bus. But of course there are also a lot of good friendly helpful people around but you must have to be discerning. It also depends on the country you are visiting. Generally, it's quite enjoyable to visit other countries. In short be alert, don't just accept invitations from people you don't know or who you are not suppose to be dealing with or not included in your itinerary to meet and most of all read up on the laws and on the culture of the country you are visiting. I enjoyed my travel to Athens, Greece because i had the chance to see the Parthenon and the Acropolis where all those Greek Gods used to live in which i only read about in Greek Mythology. I also enjoyed the cruise to the islands of Greece. Bon Voyage.

I would like to travel to that area of the world some time. There is such rich history there. For now I will have to settle with one of our neighboring countries. But that is ok for starters. Hopefully I will be able to tkae the family on a trip instead of just the business trips. Thanks for the good advice.

Congrats! Make sure you get all your shots LOL. I never have traveled outside the USA but I did travel cross country from east coast (NJ) to the west coast (CA) via greyhound. What an experience that was. I would never do it again VIA bus but I would love to do it by van maybe. It was so interesting seeing the geography of our country. I finally figured out why they call them Smoky Mountains :) Even though the buses were crowded and noisy (no sleep in 4 days to mention)and the need to stretch ones legs, I would say that it was an experience I will always remember. The people along the way at the stops we made were as diverse as the land. I still have a fondness for the Boardwalk in Wildwood NJ though. I haven't come across another boardwalk like it anywhere else.
