Micro-Managers: How do you deal with them?

I've always been the type of person to do my work to best of my ability. Sometimes I take shortcuts but I always make sure it won't compromise the integrity of my work. My boss however is very nitpicky. It can be so annoying. I work at a doctors office and we tape out schedules down on the desk. She will complain about how long the tape is. I remember when I first started working there she came through and showed me just how long the tape should me. One morning I came in and because I didn't use the correct amount of tape (i used too much) she had ripped up all the schedules and redone them. How crazy is that?? We have to make phone calls to remind our patients of their appointments and she'll criticize me for how i leave the message. It's kind of annoying. I'm a person who like to be left alone when working. I don't want someone up underneath me constantly. It makes me want to rebel. So yes, the tape gets longer. I make sure Ileave long messages and so on and so forth. I'm probably one of the best workers on our floor and I just don't know how to tell my boss to back off. Anyone have any ideas?? I would love your input!
