Rude sales assistant - don't they just get on your nerves?

Sales girl - Have you ever experienced having to find a sales assistant being rude to you? Don't they just get on your nerves?

I remember when I was younger, I went on a holiday to another country and went shopping one day. I got into one of the shops that sells hand bags - fake juicy couture hand bags by the way. I was curious on the prices so I asked the sales girl who was standing beside me. I pointed on one of the bags then she told me the price. I was surpised that such fake goods, the price was too 'pricey' for me. I replied "wow, that's kind of expensive" in a low tone. Then she responded "well if it's too expensive, don't buy it!". I was so shocked and got offended and was very angry at the same time. I remember yelling at her back and walked off but I don't remember what I actually said. Right now I'm thinking why didn't I just stayed and argued more, maybe push her hard and pull her hair out. LOL. Maybe I thought I was too young to react more about it. Oh well, rude sales assistant do get on my nerves big time. What are your comments on this? Any experience to share?

This is one of my pet peeves. I can't stand going to a store and having a rude sales person. Not only are you going into their store but you are spending money in there as well. If someone is rude to me I will simply walk out and choose not to spend my money as well I won't ever go back there. I did have one experience that always sticks out in my head. I had to find a dress. Last minute dress shopping is not fun at all. Anyway I went into a upscale boutique and as soon as I entered the woman send to me I don't think you could afford these cloths and asked me to leave. So anyway just to spite her. I tried a dress on and then I asked her to ring it up. She was like HUH. I returned the dress 2 days later and said that I didn't want it.

The lady said that I couldn't afford the cloths was the manager/owner of the store. So needless to say in this case I couldn't do nothing. Anyway I noticed that the company went belly up and is out of business now.

That was well played. They have their own problems and theyre being rude to us for no reason. It;s a different story when we are being rude at the first place. But it is a no no when you're trying to be polite so that you can get the best service in return but no. The next time this happen to me, I'll probably ask for their manager. Thanks for sharing :) Cheers

I don't like anyone whose rude, but especially someone whom I am spending my money with. I remember when I was younger, my aunt took me and her kids out the movies and we went to a fast food spot after that. The lady at the drive-through window was so rude! She was very short, didn't use "Please", "Thank You" or anything along those lines. She even snatched the money from my aunt and closed the window. By this time my aunt took more than she could. When the lady came back and gave us our food, my aunt politely took the bag that was shoved at her and said "Don't get mad at me because you work minimum wage and don't like it." I was so embarrassed but her kids thought it was funny. The girls face dropped and you could tell she wanted to really say something back. MY aunt continued, "You have something to say? I didn't think so." and pulled off. I will never forget that.

It is easy for people to say please and thank you and to be polite, it doesn't cost them anything. I do sympathize with the girl however, as some people have to work on minimum wage and have to smile all day till their face hurts, and all for the crumbs off a richer persons table. Maybe she didn't have the opportunities that some of us have had. I try to cheer up people on minimum wage and not drive their emotions even further through the floor.

Two wrongs don't make a right. It was rude of her to say that to you, but if you had gotten physical with her you would have done none better then she was. If I ever find myself in the kind of situation I just take a deep breath and walk out. I will complain to the next sales person especialy if they are much better then the previous one. I might also make a complaint the next time I am in if the sales person is absent at the time. Not knowing wither or not how they are affected I still feel better about the situation knowing I did something instead of nothing or losing my temper and do something I would later regret.
