Hurricane Gustav and its Preparedness

Last Sunday - Wednesday our state was hit hard by Gustav. I just wanted to give kudos to the Governor, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, on the great job he has done to prepare the state and the people for Hurricane Gustav. He updated the state everyday on what was going on and still is updating. The contraband flow went smooth and people were evacuated in a timely manner, and now he has some great disaster programs to help us all with our recovery. Jindal has learned from the mistake that the previous Gov. had made with the preparedness of a Hurricane. I also want to thank all the volunteers, National Guardsmen, Red Cross, FEMA, and the power company people, from other states, who has come into our state to help cleanup, bring food, water, and supplies and for helping to restore power. There is a lot of great, kindhearted people in this world. Does your state have a preparedness plan if a Hurricane or any other catastrophe takes place?

Please after Katrina they had no other choice but to get it right I was in Katrina and they were totally lost at that time.So to give them kudos i guess is ok but,They the government blow it with Katrina now I'm just going to sit back and watch how they are going to play "Ike" Gov. Jindal and Mayor Nagin cried wolf with Gustav now i'll like to see how they are going to convince folks to leave if "Ike" become a threat.

Yes, the Gov. was totally lost during Katrina. But I'm glad Jindal has learned from their mistakes. Its going to be hard to get people to leave this time, most people just returned home.

I was rather impressed with how my city was able to quickly get everything up and running again after Gustav and thrilled to see the flood protection is still holding up. Let's hope we never see another Katrina situation.
