Yes - you make a very good point about starting to clean up where you are. Of course an individual or single family can have no effect on the overall situation, but if we all think carefully about our impact on the environment then we can collectively improve things. I think the number one suggestion, which most people ignore is very easy - don't buy what you don't really need! It is simple, saves money and reduces the need to recycle or dump. So only buy replacement products when the previous one is beyond economic repair, not jsut because a new one comes out. Don't buy presents for people that they do not need, treat them to dinner instead. And be careful when buying food to ensure that you do not overstock or buy food near its eat buy date. Also - don't litter! So many people throw things on the ground that it is a real mess and expensive to clear up. Particulalry along the roads - why not take it home and put it in your own dustbin! I do. Join me and clean up the world! and teach our kids to do the same by example.

Unfortunately, there are still lots of people that don't realize or choose to ignore that we are killing ourselves and our entire planet. Education is the best route to go. We need to inform people of their choices in helping clean up the environment. Some people out there want to help but are unaware of their options to help out so they do nothing in hesitation. For sure, get out there and help spread the word that something can be and must be done! You can organize clean up the ditch days or have Turn-out-the-lights (candle-light) parties to help save energy. Talk to your municipality and/or your local politician to find out if their is an environmental committee set up in your area. If there is, volunteer with them! If there isn't, talk to neighbouring towns to find out how to set one up.

hi there. i think pollution is mainly caused because there aren't proper laws enforced by the government to control. i have seen people throwing the litter just outside the dustbin and also in the places where there would be sign indicating not to do that. how many of us follow it. it's the same case in spitting too. even if the government introduces laws it is not properly enforced. the laws are just followed for about a month maximum and then it's the same littering and making the environment dirty. the people should also think about the environment and act as responsible citizens. hardly 10percent of the people follow the rules and laws that are laid down.
