For all you Englanders out there, I have a question for you. Why do you think London is sooo great. What does it have that us Iowans don't have besides the cute accents?

Right. I have never been to Iowa, so I can't compare them but I can tell you why I love London so much.. I grew up and lived in London until 2 years ago and I still go there pretty frequently. I love London because it's so busy and there is ALWAYS something to do. Any time of the day or night. Other places I have lived or even visited have a last train or a last bus or the pub/club closes early but I used to often go one night after college and turn up to work the next day having not been to sleep and had an amazing night. There is so much to do in London as well. There are lots of famous attraction which are worth seeing and it is a very cultural city. Although it is a city, it has some amazing sights. The shopping there is pretty awesome and seeing events at wembley can be a pretty good experience. There are some good restaurants and you can get pretty much whatever you fancy to eat. My boyfriend lives in the middle of nowhere and although it is good to go to to get away and relax, there isn't frequent buses and you can't nip out any time of the day or night if you decide that you fancy ice-cream or a pizza. I've found this even when just being slightly out of London as well. Another great thing about London is that you don't have to rely on driving, as fun as it is and as much as I enjoy driving in London (I find driving anywhere else a bit boring to be honest, lol) you can get a bus or a train or a tube and be in another part of London in probably about a fifth of the time it takes to drive. I also like the way that the majority of people seem to accept people however different they are to themsleves. I guess though, that being born and bred there I am liable to be pretty biased about the place!!

Sorry, I just couldn't resist this one. I am not from England. I am from Ohio. But I can tell you for sure, having never been to England, or to London....if Iowa is anything like Ohio, it is quite boring...at least my part of Ohio. Flat, farmland, nothing special to call attention to the area for tourism or anything like that. No pretty landscaping. No special buildings or architecture to bring people here. Oh well, we have Cedar Point and King's Island. And the Great Lakes--well part of them. But, now London.....Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, The Royal Guard, just to mention a small amount of the attraction. There is the fog. The romance of the area. Much of the history of our United States began in England and other European countries. The history itself is interesting. The authors who have come from the area, the novels that have been written with the area as the backdrop. Now come on. Be honest. Here in Ohio....there in Iowa....can we really say we have all that? Okay, on the other hand....we have the wonderful farming communities and the close-knit relationships here. Do they have all that in London? I don't know. When it comes to good down home family lifestyle...I couldn't ask for more than what we would have right here in our own homespun communities in Ohio, and probably there in Iowa. So, okay...London may be a great place to visit...but I would rather live right where I do now. How about you there in Iowa??
