D in reading? Really

Well this is a funny story from my childhood. Apparently I taught myself to read when I was 4 years old. When I was in first grade I was reading at a third grade level. So my mom was flabbergasted when I came home with a D in reading. When she spoke to my teacher, the teacher said it was because she couldn't read my handwriting! I can laugh about it now (my handwriting is still messy) but at the time my mom was ticked!

Reading Writing and Arithmetic. At least you had a A in the reading part! Can't be perfect in everything can we?
I guess some things never change if your handwriting hasn't improved over the years! Just not meant to be!

Yeah, I agree the handwriting should have gotten the D not the reading!

The teacher's argument was that because she couldn't read my handwriting, she couldn't tell if I was understanding what I was reading. But heck she could have asked questions if there was any doubt!

You must have been a Doctor in your previous life! No one knows why Doctors writing is illegible, but I suspect its so their customers don't know what they wrote. I want to be a Gynecologist in my next life. I've always wanted to be one, ever since I learned to pull a calf from his mother's womb by his front legs.

We had a grade for handwriting on our report cards in elementary school. I always had a C. Ruined an otherwise perfect report card
Oh, well, bygones!

We did too, that was the funny thing. Why didn't she just give me a D there?

That is funny.
